I have a partial set of used ARRI Ultra Primes available:

1,7/20mm Distagon T* feet scale, good used cond.

1,7/28mm Distagon T* meter scale, good used cond.

1,7/135mm Sonnar T* feet scale, excellent used cond.

And:
1,8/14mm Distagon T* (T2.0, not Ultra Prime) feet/meter combined scale, excellent used cond.

All lenses are PL mount (obviously).

All these lenses are T1.9, (exc. 14mm) but on a digital sensor what you are concerned with is f-stop which will determine the depth of field. The D.O.F. of these lenses wide open is quite shallow.

Used ARRI Ultra Primes are very hard to come by and sell very fast. These lenses are perfect for the RED One. I am a firm believer that only the best optics are suitable for the RED due to it's extremely high spatial resolution.

I am certified by Carl Zeiss Oberkochen in the service of the Ultra's and I have invested in the specialized tools to service them. I will be overhauling these lenses prior to sale. I can also change the focus scales to feet/meter as desired by the purchaser.

I'll be checking this thread for replies, or you can e-mail me directly at info@cinematechnic.com

I haven't had a chance to determine pricing yet, but I wanted to get this out there ASAP since I know many of you are in acquisition mode, looking for high end glass for your new RED.

Are you open to selling individual lenses, or only as a set?

best,

Yes, because the lenses do not comprimise a full set they are available separately. Of course anyone purchasing two or more lenses would get more flexiblity in the price.

BTW, I need to come up with some prices but I have a major camera repair on the bench today. Perhaps late tonight.

How much are you asking for the 20mm?

My customer wants to hold off on selling the 20mm and 28mm Distagon Ultra Primes until he can find a 16mm and 24mm. So... I've got my work cut out for me since as I mentioned, finding used Ultras is really difficult (second only to finding used Mk.II or Mk.III T1.3 Super Speeds). But he can't put himself in a position where he does not have a working set, even temporarily.

The 135mm Sonnar Ultra Prime is still available, and at the moment we are asking $10,425.- for this lens which is in excellent condition, almost like new.

Hi Jorge,

Glad to see you're doing well as I've had no response to the e-mails I sent to you directly, regarding the conversion of my Angenieux lens to PL. Maybe you're not using the address with your name anymore ? I'll send you one at info just in case.

Cheers,
Damien

Damien,

I'm still waiting for Visual Products to get back to me about this. They _supposedly_ have the parts to convert the back end of your lens. I talked to Paul about this twice. He said he had the parts but he'd have get back to me regarding pricing. I have just been swamped, everyone is having their camera/lens emergencies, and I'm still trying to get the workshop together. I will call them again today as they have likely forgotten my request.

How much are you asking for that 14mm?

We are asking $7995.- USD and the lens is in excellent condition. It is the newer style T2 version. It has a wrap-around focus scale and geared iris scale. I have some high resolution photos of it if you are interested.

As I understand it (I was told this by an ASC DP), the Distagon 1,8/14mm was designed by Carl Zeiss for Panavision. ARRI found out about this and got their undies in a bunch. So ARRI was able to get the same design for their use as well. That's why its an f1.8 not an f2.0 like all the other non Super Speed pre Ultra Prime lenses.

My customer had decided to keep the 20mm and 28mm Distagons for the time being. The 135mm Sonnar is still available (I have a E.U. based cutomer interested but nothing definite yet). If anyone has 16mm or 24mm Ultra Prime lenses for sale, please contact me directly.

If anyone in the South Florida area (or willing to travel there) has an early RED One, and would be interested in doing some comparison tests Ultra Prime vs. Super Speed vs. Standard T2.1, please contact me directly.

Hi Jorge,

Just saw your response here, (there are so many threads on this forum now). That's good news, about the parts, as long as pricing is reasonable. Thanks for not forgetting me. Like I said, I'm not in a hurry, yet. But come November, I will be.

With my regards,
Damien
