Nick and Vint had cam 51 on display at the PS TIFF party on Sunday night.

PS had them set up on a 2060, with a sweet Cooke zoom. The camera was running at iso 1000 and spitting out HD SDI to a 1080 monitor.

Every one was suitably impressed. It is a Sweet looking rig.
Sorry to say it seemed I was the only one paying any attention to the lonely SI 2K.

So,

What are they up to now?

Vinit and I are doing a lot of testing and demoing for people in Toronto. There is also a tons of post work going on. The 4k files look simple breathtaking! like nothing any of us have ever seen. Marc Bachli (post guru and DoP) of Fini Films will shoot a music video on Sunday with 50 (Jim, whats its name?) but we wont be out with them very much for another week or two. We are still waiting for a few missing accessories and figuring out our workflow. Ill talk to the label about posting some stills form the video, next week.
A big thank you to the Red peeps for all of your help, a support team as good as its camera! Now all I need is that new update :w00t:

Sundays Shot with RED #50 went well. A small sample can be seen at this link.

congrats on the shoot.

q: some of the flashes are only visible in parts of the background. can you explain why?

...just trying to understand the process behind it...

The partial-frame flashes was discussed in another thread.

Basically that's a "rolling shutter" effect and it's the way the camera works. Either you sync your flash precisely to the camera (apparently there's some period of time when all pixels are being exposed, at least with the 180 shutter at 24 fps) or you use a flash that lasts at least 1/24 sec (good luck with that) or you accept partial-frame flashes. Or you don't use strobe lights in your production.
