would it be practical for either reduser.net or red.com to sponsor
a wiki containing usage tips and ideas for the Red one?
I'm just thinking that since the number of users exceeds the number
of Red employees, and continues to grow, that some kind of user-maintained
documentation system would make a lot of sense.
Posts to forums are fine, but it will get at least linearly more difficult
to use the forum archives to find information about topics that
have been discussed, as the amount of messages increases,
and as new threads push the older threads down the stack.

That's the third time that such an initiative has been presented.

think THIS (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=73779#post73779) is the most extensive thread so far and seems promising looking at the work done so far.
and it might be at least two people here (Paul and Ian) being their fathers if they should decide to cooperate.

Just did a back order for wikired.com if anyone affiliated with RED wants to use it for a wiki. I will know in a short while if we got it. redwiki.com was already taken.

Hi,
Ibloom has started http://www.redhax.net/wiki, I started http://www.redwiki.org at the beginning of the year. The problem is creating a central space that everyone on the board recognises and is happy to spend time updating. Jarred mentioned he was setting something up but nothing ever materialised unfortunately.
It seems to me that unless there is an official Wiki it won't generate enough pulling power for the other RedUsers to use or update.
I'd be more than happy to donate RedWiki.org to Jarred and co. and have offered to on a couple of occassions. Fact is they're all probably busy with more important things.

Paul,
Just noticed your RedWiki.org - that is a better name than wikired.com - goes well with RedUser. I noticed RedWiki.net is taken. I agree, we need some sort of central wiki. It would be cool for the wiki to have a place to put RED foot via Bit Torrent. A nice thumbnail description of each footage - with small comment box by each thumbnail with essential info and director notes.
By the way, has anyone updated the Wikipedia listing for RED?

There's a RED Digital Cinema Camera Company article at Wikipedia. I just thought I should note that.

Hi Neil,
It's strange that you should mention torrents, as I was thinking about that yesterday. A central webpage that could be updated with torrent links as and when they become available. And yes using the Wiki would certainly make it easy for people to add or edit the list.

Paul,
Great minds think alike!
Central torrent files would be awesome. It would also be cool to have a RED events section of the wiki - where people could add their seminars and events related to the RED in a central calender.
