So here is a projected workflow for a job I'm building. Any advice would be great.
Shoot 4k 16:9 redcode 36
Ingest footage from red drives or red cf cards using one beyond wrangler w red rocket.
Red rocket will transcode to either dnxhd or cineform neoscene 1920x1080 HD. (does the rocket support cineform transcoding with the neoscene encoder in windows xp?) this will be used for the offline edit. H.264 dailies will also be transcoded for iPhone iPad dailies.
Once the offline has been cut, the conform must take place. This is where I'm a bit lost. There are two options I'm looking into. Basically it boils down to grading in either native RAW r3d or having to convert down to dpx. **
If I can round trip back to the RAW I will conform and grade in whatever DI software I recommend. What DI suites and software that has native r3d support for grading? Any that have rocket support as well?
If I cannot roundtrip I will conform in clip finder or monkey extract with an EDL XML file generated from fcp Then send the conform to Redcine x (I need a bit of an education on how to do this) once this is done I will do a base one light correction and export red color red gamma debayered 2k 16 bit dpx for grading.
Film print will be 2k laser out.
