I can't give you the details yet - the politics on this stuff is nuts - but our test shoot this past Saturday;

RED head-to-head with 35mm at a high-end commercial shoot -

had the post production show-down with the team at THE MILL in NY.

Let's just say ... RED had a very good day.

When will the film from the 35MM camera be developed?

Then transferred to a file or tape? :)

You should run a workflow cost comparison along side the image test results.

That would be cool!

Guys The Mill is a post house. Meaning the commercial was shot and processed a day or so ago, now both are being viewed together.

I think they where joking Mike.

Anyways, The mill company is pretty thorough when it comes down to their work. If they want something look like 35mm they have it shoot in 35mm. If they want 16mm.. they shoot 16mm. If Red get their blessing in this “film vs digital” test it means serious business IMO.

So whats the answer Mark... Thumbs up?

What film is Luke shooting right now?

Luke Giessbuhler is Offhollywood's FAVORITE DP on the East Coast.

The most "professional" professional I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Please tell him we would love to get our REDs in his hands as quickly as possible.

Trust me, I am trying to get an "official quote" - and this may blow up into some kind of big press release situation for the production company that asked us to do the test - so, please be a bit more patient. But what I can tell you is that the reaction to the test was ONLY positive and VERY positive.

Now, please don't tempt me anymore - when I am allowed to give specific details I will -

I am going to try to go over and see the guys at THE MILL next week (I am shooting today/Sat/Sun) but yeah, this is pretty damn major -

Yes, I couldn't agree more. He's been great... The Film is a spin-off to the new "Get Smart" movie that was shot a few months ago. This film stars two of the supporting characters (Bruce and Lloyd) and follows their adventures.

I'll be sure to pass along your message... :)

Haha, tell Mr Geissbuhler his name was pretty hard to translate into Cyrillic... I remember working on the text for the anthem sequence for Borat in between frantic Photoshopping and thinking "damn, I hope I got that guy's name right..."

Waiting in anticipation of what the Mill think too...

Guys -

I don't think I can get a public quote from the Mill. There was a fair amount of politics involved with the client. And there are also many folks who enjoy keeping their Spirits running if you know what I mean.

What I can say is -

the production company was - http://www.averysmalloffice.com/

The director was Mikon Van Gastel.

Mikon and everyone who saw the footage were BLOWN AWAY.

We will be doing some Red stuff with Mikon in the near future.

We have shot a bunch of tests that we are can not show anyone, and yes, it's frustrating. Two of the biggest projects we are involved with we can not discuss at all.

We know you guys want to see some bad ass RED footage. Fear not.

We will be doing some stuff very soon with RADICAL MEDIA (http://www.radicalmedia.com/) and RIOT! (http://www.rioting.com/) and they got mad chops -
