DPX's from REDCINE -x wont open in AE/Color.
AE gives an error of not being able to recognize them as smpte dpx's.
Apple Color just ignores them.
I did not have issues with the old Redcine.
I did have issues with Color renders DPX's not importing in AE.
Scratch takes them all.
Anyone to put sense into this.
Thanks.

Color output DPX files "little endian" and AE only reads "big endian".
Color is quite useless in that matter.

Make sure you're outputting 10-bit DPX'es, not 12 or 16 bit.
I got some files from a guy using Nuke 6 and he had done that by mistake as well. Even Nuke 5 couldn't read them.

Does anyone know if Cineon files can be littleendian, or are they bigendian all the time, I think Kodak's DLAD_2048X1556.cin is bigendian.
I'm working on a program that will do processing such as CC and type conversion and one of its options is to edit the header and such as well as to bring the scale within 95-685 and so forth, it should be out this summer if things go well.
I noticed that some of the fields in REDCINE DPX are filled with odd values or blank, the ASCII fields shoud just be 0-127?
Anyway, if anyone knows the answer to my question about if CIN files are always bigendian it would be a help, thank-you.

I have rechecked the export is set to 10 bit dpx.
Could it be that Redcine -x exports "little indian"?
Any one succeeded to import to AE dpx's from redcine x?

DPXs from REDcine-X open fine in AE CS4 on a Mac
But then they also load fine in Color 1.5.2 for me.
Can you post a sample DPX frame?

Color will render out in Cineon, which imports into AE no problem. Redcine -> Color (.dpx), Color -> AE (.cin) is a workflow I use if grading 3K or higher.
But that is not what the OP is talking about... haven't tried dpx from Redcine-X yet.

DPXs from REDcine-X (221) are big-endian, so that shouldn't be the problem

check the filenames....
it should be A001_C001.000001.dpx then color and AE is reading them....
