Does anyone knows the part no. for the 6pin Lemo connector used for power supply? Thanks to Anders great research all other connectors are clear, except this one. Need to prepare spare cables for external batteries.

If anyone knows the pin config of this connector, that would also be great.

Thanks!

I am fairly certain its a FG?.2B... prefix part, if a measurement of the shell diameter were available, it would be easier to nail it down to an actual part number. If one of the early camera recipients wants to take a connector image with a scale in the frame, I think that would be all it would take.

The connector used for power input is an FGG.2B.306.CLAD**Z

The right angle version would be FHG.2B.306.CLAD**Z

The ** is a function of the cable diameter you use and the Z indicates that it is a version which accepts a LEMO bend relief. The bend relief part number also depends on the cable diameter that you use.

Pin out is -

1 + V Batt
2 + V Batt
3 - V Batt
4 - V Batt
5 Not used (I2C bus to RED BRICK)
6 Not used (I2C bus to RED BRICK)

Min / Max voltages permitted 11.5V - 17.5V

Note: It is NOT recommended to modify existing 4 pin XLR based broadcast battery chargers / A.C power adaptors for use with the RED-ONE as the current draw may be significantly higher than many broadcast D.C power outputs are designed to support. The RED CHARGER has been specifically designed to operate as an A.C to D.C power source for the RED ONE camera.

good info, hopefully this can be preserved in some easy-reference format (FAQ etc). At some point I hope we can get a range of power draws from the camera also (eg. min. and max. watts)

I assume the standard V (Sony) to Anton Bauer Plate will allow us to use Anton Bauer batteries...is this correct?

Anton/Bauer Wedge Mount Adapters instantly convert the Sony "wedge" connector

It's in the camera manual ;)

Manual... Can we get a PDF of that already?

It's in the camera manual ;)

Which is something I, and I suspect a few others, would love to see! :whistling:

Thanks a lot for this fast info. Can you also specify the pin config. for the Lemo 4pin 12V out? What current is supplied thru these outs?

And yes, a downloadable version of a manual would be great...

I guess it's only a "work in progress" manual, and things may change down the road, but we would not tell anybody :)

Manuals are supplied to RED-ONE camera owners on delivery, but are not generally available yet. This is due to the high rate of change in the camera's firmware and hence camera functionality.

Hey Stuart,

Is Red going to make a cable to power from industry standard 4 pin XLR ? I see the wisdom in using large capacity Li-Ion V-mounts most of the time, but there are a few situations where other ways of powering the camera would preferred.

OK, so what is the range for current draw?

We probably won't offer a 4 pin XLR to 6 pin LEMO cable Matt.

Most 4 pin XLR D.C power sources won't sustain enough power to drive a RED ONE camera and the typical accessories that tap off of it.

The RED CHARGER is an excellent power source to compliment RED BRICK batteries if you have access to A.C power.

Quick question about the power supply/charger:

The Sony equivalent of this charger (I say equivalent because it's the same basic layout & design - twin V-lock battery charger plus 4-pin XLR out to drive a camera) can power a camera via 1 or 2 batteries mounted on the charger - ie without the charger plugged into AC. And with the option of two batteries on the charger to power a camera, it allows you to hot-swap 1 of the batteries without losing power to the camera.

It's very handy for event-recording without AC available.

So my question is: does the Red charger/power supply do this?
