After reading all of this drama over at C.com (you know what I mean...) about debayering and such, I think it might be a good idea to post some 4K footage thats cropped into a 2K frame. Just give us the center area of the clip with no down res, and I think this will help show people just how good the camera is.

Nice, I'm a believer in Red myself, and I would like to see a 4K crop, in fact, I think everyone wants to....

Could someone elaborate for those of us who don't visit C.com what a 2K crop from a 4K frame is going to prove.

Idiots just waste my time. I never post you know where, its unproductive... but still would like to see a 4K crop anyhow :)
Lots of keyboards will be covered in drool HAHAHA.

It will just prove that the image holds up in 4K... thats about it, and besides, lots of people like myself haven't been able to see a 4K screening, so this is the closest I'll be able to get for quite some time...

Nothing. ...Or what you would get if you recorded in 2K window mode.
A 2K crop from a 4K clip could be useful in preserving localized detail to better show how 4K can hold up. But for still frames, just send over the entire 4K image. Cropping seems pointless to me for stills unless you want to save bandwidth.

Why post a crop? Anyone who's downloaded one of the 4K tiffs from Evin or Offhollywood can view the footage at 100%.... I dont see the need to crop this and repost, just view it at 100% in whatever applicatin you're using to view it, that's exactly the quality you'll see with a 2K crop.

I think we're talking about footage, not stills. I am amazed that no one yet has posted a sequence of 4k stills. I for one am very interested in seeing that. But if it's not going to happen, a 2k crop would be valuable to see what happens to the noise pattern from frame to frame.

Am I the only person on this forum that doesn't have a 2k display?

Unless you film them walking away in 4k.
The fool's resolution is spectacular in this case.
