I am fascinated by the various color correction and experimentation with the images shot this week with our camera (Ripley) and thought it would be fun to put all the versions in a single gallery for reference. Check it out here:

http://gallery.mac.com/videoresources#100050

You can post your images in this thread and I will incorporate them into the web gallery or you can post them directly into the gallery.

Here is a link http://www.mediafire.com/?cdjnc1dnmny to download a 41MB still image from the RED camera for those of you who may want try your hand at additional choices. I encourage all to give it a shot and upload your results to the web gallery. Enjoy! BH

PS: I credited the RED Users that I poached the images from and if you want your images removed just PM me.

Here is a 2K version I did in Photoshop.

I posted it before but then deleted. Photoshop isn't very useful for more then 1 image at a time. The Alien Skin "Exposure" plugin is fun to play with though. Works well for making images look like film. I forget which stock I used but I wanted to make it "warm" feeling with some added grain.

I like the idea of this test, so I decided to limit myself to a single tool to see what I could accomplish quickly.
Using only curves, and limiting myself to only a single inflection point (I used one in RGB, one in Red and one in Blue), this is my result saved as a 1k .jpg file.
There is clearly so much that can be done and with just a minimum of effort a large array of looks can be achieved.

Full size version you can upload to your gallery (12MB PNG file, sRGB space):

Hope you like it!

Paul, that looks amazing! I think that this is my favorite take on this still yet. Sanjin had some nice cc's of it the other day but this one just looks like a very high end film shot. It is pretty much radiating heat!

Ok, let's have some fun

Only playing with the RGB curves, saturation and some grain.

"The power of REDCODE raw - Post your image versions" would be a more appropriate title if there was access to REDCODE raw and REDALERT or other software so we could post our image versions...

What you can’t take it on faith and a deep belief that images here are truthful to reds output?

It is my understanding that we are not allowed to distribute Red Alert and Red Code Raw is not readable without it. We will investigate and see if there is a way to provide the Red Code Raw and a path to review. Stay tuned. BH

A pastel look. Pushing up against noise and compression though. Consider how saturated the original is not. Then imagine what you could do here with a lighter touch and already saturated backgrounds!

visceralpsyche, excellent work. i like your style.

CraigFPG, absolutely beautiful. Would you please do another version(s) of the photo? Please add some chiaroscuro - less than visceralpsyche's version, but with the same color warmth as your original take. Thanks!

Slinnn, thanks for the prolific offerings. Would you try doing a handful of versions in visceralpsyche's style, and also a handful of versions in CraigFPG's style? That'd be cool to see.
