Red,
I have been talking to my Bomb Squad rep and she is great, but she can't answer a question for me, so I thought I would ask here.
How will I be allowed to pay for my Epic?
When I payed for my Red One I was only allowed to put $7500 on credit card and everything else had to be bank transfer (cash).
I only have 30 days to pay for my Epic when time comes, which could be anytime from 30 days from today to 12 months from now. We have no clue.
I have $20,000 in the bank ready to pay for Epic, but I also have $20,000 in credit card debt I would like to pay off. Problem is I don't want to get stuck not having cash on hand and Red not allowing me to pay with credit card like happened with Red One.
Will I be allowed to pay for my entire Epic balance with credit card or do I need to keep cash on hand so I don't get stuck?
Any input from Red would be very helpful on this.
Thanks,
Dusty

RED can do 7500$ per card per every 2-3 days, so it should be no problem, agree with Peter.

I agree, pay off credit card, but Red would not let me pay for my Red One with credit card. It had to be cash. And with only 30 days to pay, I don't want to get stuck not having cash on hand.
Red would not let me pay more than $7500 on my credit card for Red One. No multiple payments.
If they don't call for Epic for six months, I should have no problem making extra money to pay off Epic and credit card, but I don't want my 30 days to run out because I don't have cash on hand to pay for Epic.

And.....
A lot of credit card companies are reducing credit lines, even if you have immaculate credit. So you might "free up" $20K in available credit, then find out they dropped your credit line to $500:(
Just a heads up, and I AM NOT in the CC business. Just what I have been seeing on the business/financial news.

Pay off $7500 of your CC debt for starters.

I didn't mean that to sound condescending, just practical. Until you can sort out the payment scenario with RED what other choice do you have?
The $7500 paid down on CC debt should, in theory, free up $7500 of credit toward the Epic.

I am really just trying to get an official answer from from Jarred or someone from Red. My Bomb Squad rep, said she doesn't have an answer for the question.

"Screwed"? Yes, for NEW customers, we do not take credit card for large (ie, camera) purchases due to potential fraud protection. Once you are an ESTABLISHED customer, then we allow you to do so as you have a proven credit history with us.

Brent,
Thanks for responding.
Screwed might be a little harsh, but if I had plenty of money on my credit card and no cash, and Red only took cash. 30 days runs out without cash to pay. I would call that screwed. It would be my fault for not being prepared, but I would end up with no Epic and an executed Red One.
So since I have bought lots of stuff from you guys and you have my card on file, paying $20,000 or whatever it ends up costing for Epic and accessories will be fine?
Thanks,
Dusty

Interesting discussion:
Brent, my question would be.....How much can established clients put on their credit cards? Can we put down a % or dollar amount on the Epic purchase? I guess question is if we put down $5k cc deposit on epic stage 2, how much can we pay on balance ? a percentage or all?
....And thanks for jumping in on this, I have to know how many coffee cans to dig up come game day or what cards to put in play.

Leads one to wonder what will happen when the new cameras
are out to the public..many will be buying multiple cameras..
many who have not been previous red customers.
Guess it will be sorted out when the time comes.

Well this is welcome news! I would like to know how much would be allowed on CC in total too! :-)
With young companies, it's all about managing cashflow - it's one of the primary reasons for young companies failing. Knowing how much credit they can use is crucial.

As an established customer, no dollar limit on card purchases. No more than three separate credit cards may be used per payment.

Pay off your Credit Card Debt ... that's a no brainer.
Be careful, these days many credit card companies are lowering limits or closing completely when they are paid, or paid down - often regardless of how good the credit is.
Paying it down right now is only good if you are sure you can charge it back up.

Oh that's good news! Brent, does this mean I can pay everything via CC when the time is up? :)

I think it's pretty clear you can as long as you have sufficient credit on up to 3 credit cards at a time. Great news!

Pay off the credit cards, save up for the camera. Your credit rating will shoot up within a couple months or so. If you don't already, you should then qualify for a lower interest loan from a bank or credit union if you still need cash for the Epic.

You go to the local Hilton and you sit there in the bar and wait to get hit on by older rich women, and they will come to you and pay you. Take Viagra before. 4 weeks of that and you can afford any Epic CASH you want and you'll have a good story for you first feature. Good luck.

Wow. This info really, um, confuses me (edit). What exactly constitutes established? I was told by my bomb squad rep that the limit was $5000 on a CC or Debit card. And I verified this with several emails and a phone call. So I paid my Epic upgrade with $5000 on Debit and wire transferred the other $14,500 as I was told that that was my only option. Anyone from Red wanna throw me some CC reward points or a credit for the wire transfer fees?
