View Full Version : Is it just my monitor, or is REDCINE-X really, really dark?

The images on the screen look fine. It's just that the control panel is so black and mono-chromatic, I can hardly see anything.
Does anyone else have this issue?

Yes, it is very dark. But any system meant for grading should not distract or stress the eye.

Which is why middle gray (18%) is used in color correction suites around the monitor - also part of the SMPTE recommended practices for critical viewing environments. Includes color temperature fore back lighting etc.

I'd be very happy with a middle gray. I'm at like 0 IRE on my screen.

I second the idea of middle grey. Anything where color is critical should be middle grey.
