Combines a dolly and a motion control head for some pretty cool programmable moves.
Anybody worked with this system? Thoughts?

Looks very cool. I didn't see any prices... Has anyone gotten an estimate?

VFS has stated that they will offer a moco dolly system that will work with the impero head, coming early next year. Probably a jib coming after that...
Seeing at the prices of other manufacturers, I'll definitely wait to see what Curt has to foffer in this regard.
The best,

Yeah. I'm waiting for the VFS MoCo dolly and jib too. That Peace River Studios rig looks pretty hefty (support up to 120lbs.), but not not a portable as I would like.

Hey Curt
long time no talk. How are things going in your cave? I think I speak for about 95% of the people here when I ask what kind of approximate ship date are the matte boxes looking at.
Keep in touch. If you need anything you know how to reach me.

That thing looks badass, but 100k? Ha ha ha.
Does anyone know if they rent their gyro stabilizer out of LA at any kind of a decent rate?

LA denizens ....

Whole shebang for 6k. I'd do it but I have nowhere to put it. If you're in the LA area snap it up.
Heck, actually, I'll do that one better. PM me and I'll split the cost with someone who has a place to store it, provided I can use it when I need it.

Geez, I wish I had that much extra lying around right now, I'd go in.
Be careful, though, Pen and maybe ask about a warranty and stuff?

Damn! $6k for a $100K rig! Makes me wonder what's wrong with it?
grandpa it burns

I'll tell you what's wrong with it...It's a peace of crap! Look at the construction! It's made from welded pieces of square tubing. No hardened finish, come on, at least anodize the thing. I come from a time where people to pride in their work and fit, finish and craftmanship actually mattered!

A little ornery today. Is it possible that someone needs a diaper change?

Yah, but check out his avatar. It kinda looks like Waldorf from the muppets, so maybe ...
Tom - your advice is taken to heart. I'm gonna go and look at it, I think ... if it's broken no harm done, right?

Lol at grandpa.
pen, you might be able to round up a larger group of say 5 LA/OC folks who'd be willing to kick in a K or whatever, and make a cash offer to the dude of 5K. Perhaps it could be housed with someone in LA with a garage or studio or somewhere nice to keep it? I mean really, how often would any one person even use the thing? For me, you'd be talking a couple days a month, max. This assumes the thing is in working condition, and that all five people or whatever could get along and play nice. :)

So, I have more info now.
Talked to the guy - apparently this is a custom-built rig. Brand new, never taken out of the box. He bought it for a shoot (original cost of 10k, not 100k) but by the time it was built his shoot was finished and he couldn't use it.
So I'm gonna contact the company that made it tomorrow and get some details. Assuming they're reputable and he's reputable, I'm going to organize a group buy with anyone in Los Angeles who's interested. I'm expecting the out of pocket cost to be $2k, $1k if I get a bunch of people.
Pretty good price for true motion control!

Gonna go post now in the for sale section.

I don't agree with your statement calling it a piece of crap. First off I believe the structual frame work is made from extruded componets and even if they were not and were made from welded sections there is still nothing wrong with that. The precision of the mechanical drive portion resulting in the video shown proves to me that the product works fine. Also have you ever heard of "Clear" anodizing?

pen, keep me posted about the group buy and tentatively count me in.
i would only use it about once a month, if that, and i can plan out when i would use it way in advance, because i shoot my night timelapse stuff according to when the moon is in certain phases, etc.

pen, are you still interested in going in on a moco system?
I really need to get the ball rolling on this moco stuff.
