Hi,
This my first post here. Can somebody tell me or point me to the thread for the workflow working with .r3d file in DS ver10.3? I want to do the complete project on DS. The final out put will be HD 1080i. Thank you.

DS can take an EDL or if the project is coming from a Media Composer it can take an AFE file which is better.

If coming from FCP you can take an EDL but it is better to output AAF using Automatic Duck. You can load this AAF to DS. You can also load this AAF to Media Composer and export AFE which on occasion helps carry more effects across.

When you conform EDL/AFE/AAF you select "use alternate sources" and point to the root of your RED files. You can select to create linked clips or clips that you'll need to capture.

That's the workflow in a nutshell but of course, this does not address the color management. Read Avid High Resolution Conform Guide PDF that comes with DS. It's all detailed in there.

Thanks Igor,
I don't want to edit in MC, neither do we have FCP. I want to start and finish in DS. Some composting will be done in Flame. My main issue is color management when bringing in the .r3d files into DS. I have no idea as to what should be the Color Matrix and Gamma Curve. Should I change the other parameters like ISO, Exposure, Contrast and others. If I bring in the files as default without changing any parameters the clips looks very flat.
Is it possible to apply the original setting from Red One camera to the files when importing them in DS?

DS supports RSX. RLX and give you the same parameter controls as in other apps. The latest color science is being worked on for a point release. When you link to a file or files, you have the ability to set those as you wish. The steps should be outlined in the documentation.

One more question Michael, from where do I get the RLX or RSX preset files? Can the DOP save one for the editor?
