REAL Slow transcodes

This seems out of whack somehow. I have RR in an 8 Core 2.93GHZ Mac Pro in slot 2 and 16GB Ram. I am getting 20x realtime speeds going to from 2K and 3K files to 1080 Pro Res. I didn't see anything in particular related to this, so I was hoping someone can point me in the right direction?

I understand FW800 bottlenecking, but it happens when using different types of i/o (sata, fibre, etc)

Got my answer from the Bomb Squad!!

The 2K footage I am transcoding is 2K 2:1 (2048x1024). What I was told is
that this format is technically upscaling to 1920x1080 and upscaling isn't
accelerated on the Red Rocket, only down scaling. So my 2K transcodes were
strictly processor reliant.

I ran some 3K footage through Redcine-x 2.4.6 and it was DOUBLE realtime. This thing flies!!
