Called Schoeps' US distributor to get an idea of who services Schoeps. Discovered two things. First, answer is no one. Products get bundled in Conneticut and sent to Germany. Normally an eight week turnaround.

The good news is that Schoeps just had a price DECREASE effective Monday. B&H has not even updated their site. Buyer says he didn't even know about it

What kind of discount are we talking?

The Euro just took a hit in the last month, so it would make sense that the price on a German-manufactured microphone would go down slightly, maybe 5%. As far as I know, they've always only serviced Schoeps microphones at the factory in Germany:

Schoeps GmbH
Schalltechnik Dr.-Ing.
Spitalstraße 20
D-76227 Karlsruhe (Durlach),
GERMANY
+49 721 943 20-0

Talk to Germany directly and I bet they could turn the repair around in half the time. If you're only trying to buy a Schoeps mike, talk to one of their couple of dozen North American dealers, many of which routinely stock them and can ship immediately.

From what I gather from their exclusive US distributor, new prices are a lot more than five percent. Without using a calculator, CMC641 sterio is more than ten.

I'm told it's cheaper to buy them directly from Germany dealers, but then you'd be on your own for service.
