I cannot. Sorry, but that's it.
I suppose you could invent something, but auto focus for RED is called a FOCUS PULLER and they're very nice guys.

Welcome nawaf65095,
Your best bet for finding out all the info you need is to look through each of the forum categories. You will see "Sticky" posts, that is they stay at the top of the forum page irrespective of new posts etc, which are font colored Yellow.
These posts generally address as an overview the subject of debate for that particular forum.
There is also a very comprehensive 'Search' feature on the board.
Welcome to REDUser, hope you find the information you seek.
Best,
Mark.

There are no built-in auto focus options for the Red Camera, which is in line with cinema cameras.
The focus puller Jay is referring to is an actual title and position of the person responsible for "pulling" focus on film sets. This person works under the cinematography department under the Director of Photography.
You may want to reconsider the Red as your camera of choice if you need auto focus.

Wouldn't this customer most likely be best served by the upcoming mini-red, which I believe is planned to support auto-focus?

I would say at the moment he'd be best served by a camera that has a smaller imaging chip(s) and autofocus, since he's a beginner and is likely working without a full crew. Possibly an HVX200, or similar.

AFAIK, there are no public "plans" of any kind for the RED pocket professional... just that it's called the "RED pocket professional" and that it'll likely turn up at NAB '08.

The HVX-200 seems like a great camera for low budget work with smaller crews. I have one on order now and we'll see what it does, but if a client isn't paying at least a fair amount of money I can't afford to hire anyone but a DP, it's a luxury of a larger shoot to have a DP, a 1st A.C., maybe even an operator, etc. Right now it's pretty much just like hire DP, I direct, my producer can manage 1st A.D. responsibilities, and we get a crew of about three people to help with equipment and anything else that needs to be done. Even that's dependent on finding people who will work for free or cheap just to get experience. I'm hoping in the near future that isn't the case, but I'm glad I didn't just start out using the RED. I mean, I got experience using a bunch of Canon cameras from the XL-1s upwards, and a few other cameras here or there, so at least I understand and appreciate just how amazing the RED is because of having gone through this whole process of frustration over image quality and resolution (same thing, in some ways, because if I have to reduce the resolution massively to make the quality look more acceptable, that's just not good). Still I'm hoping the HVX can take some really nice footage because there might be plenty of times that it's the best camera for the budget.
