I notice that the current rental inventory of Sim Video http://www.simvideola.com/ is based around 2/3" cameras (F900, Varicam, Viper etc). So they have no stock lenses for Red yet. Meaning, I think business is looking up for anyone who is manufacturing 35mm cine lenses.

Given their extensive inventory of top end 2/3" HD glass I'm sure they will be keen to test the B4 adapter and pitch it as a 2k camera that is capable of 100fps.

I'm not surprised. They're not huge in the US but I've heard they're the Panavision of Canada. the shop here in LA is pretty good. Good inventory and nice guys. i knew they were getting some but that is quite a boatload.

Well I'm sure the Red one is costing them a fair bit less then the thompson vipers did.

Sounds like LA will have 25 REDs for rent by Oct 30th ie - the next big shipment of REDs.

Is it true that rental houses will receive their units before reservation holders?
I suppose it'll be hard to get an answer on that one:-)

NO - they fall in line ...i believe Sim has a small order ( 3-5) in October .. and they made their order for 25 around NAB 2007 and another 25 in past few weeks ... but they could have ordered 5 for each of their rental houses under individual names ?

Begs the question what was the point in the maximum order of 5 given that a single company has managed to order ten times that now! :)
