Can you successfully work on RED-One footage on a Windows7 PC using Adobe Premier Pro CS5 "without" a Red Rocket Card ?

What advantage does the Red Rocket Card give you in post production ?

We will NOT have clients looking over our shoulder while we work in post, nor will we be doing fine detailed editing involving music, titles, credits, etc. We just want to put our selected sequences together, with sync sound when needed, and transfer that data to a separate hard drive or blu-ray disc. The finished editing will be subbed out.

Thanks.

If your subbing out the final edit I would say go without a Rocket and cut offline in 1080 then go to a full edit/grading suite conform and grade there. You dont need a Rocket if your only offlining and time isnt an issue.

Yes, just make sure you have a CUDA graphics card and the best CPU you can afford. I've found 1/8 and 1/4 previews work well. 1/2 previews work Ok. BUT you can put your paused resolution at full or 1/2 to see a really nice preview while paused.

When selecting cuts and making edits 1/4 res is still bigger than SD I think, so it's PLENTY of information to be able to edit by.

And you could online yourself by switching resolutions at the very end and rendering out.

It's a good editing solution.

Here's some more CUDA info:

Is that support working already? I don't think so, it will be available in the future, they are working on it.

The RR's forte is debayering at full all the time. So if RR debayers then CUDA can do other things.
