View Full Version : Buffered recording
Will buffered pre-recording (if that's the correct term) be available on Red One? In other words, will there be a mode where we can hit the record button and a (user?) defined buffered period is recorded at the start of the take?
I know that this has been mooted here a couple of times, but I haven't seen a response from the Red team.
It would be hugely useful to those of us planning to use Red for wildlife shoots.

I second that. Hence the question to the RED team:
Are you going to include a pre-record feature?
Thanks for any answer in advance.

I second that too, never had a response from Graeme, don't know why...

Surely you mean you third that? ;)
I mentioned that this would be a good feature, especially onto the RedFLASH media, in another thread (I doubt I'd actually use it, but for nature/doco work I can imagine it being invaluable), but again, no response from the Red team - I think they're probably *very* busy right now, if they're trying to hit a launch date before NAB '07, and also they probably want to give some thought to how possible/difficult this would/will be to implement before answering, so hang tight!

I have noticed that generally no response is good. I suspect it means the answer isn't no, it's "we are giving it consideration but we haven't decided yet". When the answer is straightforwardly yes or no it is usually answered.

Smart guy.
Anyone going to Jackson Hole or Missoula this year?

Smart guy.
I take that for a "Yes, we'll most probably include it!". Great! Thanks for the answer.

Afterthought:
I think someone should start a Wildlife Digital Cinema Festival, where entries are limited to DC-acquired, edited, and projected. Calling festivals "film" festivals when an ever growing percentage of them never see the film medium, even in delivery, is an anachronism.
