hey all,

This is my first day with ANY red product. I just finished following all the steps in the REDROCKET PDF fo install and when I open up the REDCINE program to start my conversions I get the following errors:

Your RedRocket driver is out of date. You have version 0.0.0.0, you need version 1.1.4.0.

Now I know this is weird because I just installed the newest driver. (as I just installed it form the website.) Is there another driver located somewhere that I might try.

I also get the error:

Your RedRocket firmware is out of date. You have version 0.0.0.0, you need version 1.1.6.8

but when I check the Terminal for the update I get the prompt:

Currently installed firmware: 1.1.8.6_1.10.1

I also get the prompt that my REDROCKET is in a PCI-Ex speed of 0, and is in 0z PCI-Ex Lane. Which further confuses me, as the PCI expres utility tells me tha the slot the REDROCKET is currently in is set to 8x and is running at max speed...though it does list it as an unknown video card.

in the system profile it is listed as a red rocket though, and its link speed is 2.5 GT/s at a Link Width of x8....so? Yeah. I'ma pretty techie person but I'm at a loss. Does anyone here have any idea what I may be doing wrong?

Jon.

I got those error messages too and put it down to a bug, I haven't tested my system completely though.

I got those errors, but only for rocketcine. Redcine worked fine.

I ran into this problem on my last firmware update. Tech support told me to do a firmware update in "safe mode". This involves setting all DIP switches on the card to OFF except #8 ON. When I pulled the card out I discovered that it was already in safe-mode; apparently somebody had forgot to set it to "normal-mode" before shipping to me. Once I put DIP switches into normal-mode (all OFF), REDcine-X recognized the correct firmware and booted up. However, I still had to send it back under an RMA due to other issues. You should contact RED tech support.

Same here... Redcine-x works with our RedRocket in our 2008 MacPro, must be that Rocketcine-x has reached its end of life with the new drivers or firmware.

If you haven't already, i would file a tech support ticket here (http://www.red.com/support/index).

All the best,

Tom

I was also having problems (after I had just installed the firmware). It was reading the old one. I restarted my computer and it still didn't work. The tech at RED suggested powering down and disconnecting power for a a little bit. Once the circuit of power was cut off, and the system was then rebooted it worked. Not sure if this might work for you.

Good luck!

Problem solved....the new software only works with REDCINE-X. Works fine, operator error.
