Pardon my inexperience but I have been reading this chat board for two days and I am still confused. Just ordered the Red Camera. Question is" what is the work flo and what else do I need in oder to deliver a project after shooting. How do I get it into FCP?? What media do I use to deliver??
I have FCP studio 2 , on a MAC PRo 3.0, with 2 TB raid.
Currently we are a SP and miniDV studio editing in FCP and Newtek VT.

You need a firewire or USB port to plug in a compact flash card reader. Or you need a USB or firewire port to plug in the reddrive (think firestore).
Once on your HDD. Load into REDCine and convert to DV, HDV, ProRes or uncompressed DPX/Tif. Edit as normal. Or you can load the REDCode files straight into FCP without any transcoding. Edit as normal. And render, output to tape/export EDL or online clips.

The optimum work flow for Red is still a "work in progress" right now, you will see ongoing discussions about it on this forum right now. The good news is, by the time you get your camera (maybe mid-2008 ?) it should be well understood and it looks like there will be training sessions and instruction available.
As far as delivery media, I think it is simply whatever the customer requests. Is there a standard yet for better-than-HD quality (well, other than film) ? If they need the full image quality Red is capable of, I believe that data files on a hard drive, digital streaming tape etc. is the only way.

It was shot at 23.976 so he used frame blending to slow it down.
Personally, I can't wait until we start seeing some footage shot at >30fps. Slow-mo RED footage has gotta be killer...

Jarred your clip is just fantastic, I hope you tucked with the 18-50, the sharpness, contrast and image detail are what I have been looking for, (ever)
I can definitely care less if people may think RED's images are too sharp, cause I will not add any noise and grain to try and make it look like something else, when it just looks out of this world as is.
Thanks again for your posting guys, please do keep them coming and do not stop competing against each other (I know you must be good friends and work buddy's) in posting clips.

Welcome John, it's good to see you over here - and congrats on ordering the camera. There is a ton of great info on these boards if you look and search.
There entire sections on workflow suggestion and issues.
People are very happy to help here especially if they feel you have sone some searching first.
BTW, I am going to write Andrew at Newtek and see if they can't make more provisions for RED codecs with SpeedEDIT. So far the PC side doesn't have much visable representation yet, though Jarred keeps hinting that everything he has done has been with a PC and AE/Premiere.
AVID seems out to lunch and no one knows if they are coming back to join the party.
BTW, I ordered my camera during NAB. Glad you joined the revolution.
Welcome aboard.

Film Ylem,
I believe those flashes are lens flares, If you look at a still image you can see the impression of the lens being reflected on what ever filters are being used. Sometimes when the back of the matte box isn't covered light leaks in and causes the filters to act as a mirror. Chances are there wasn't the right sized insert ring used. A solution would be to buy an insert ring for every lens diameter or use a small piece of black cloth to cover the back of the matte box.

Ha :),
Ok, but it's still a lens flare. I guess the sunlight is hitting the edge of the lens housing and producing that semi-circle. And the milky look is just light bouncing around in the lens.
