I just wanted to make sure I wasn't hurting anything. Is it okay to leave my Red on while making a lens change? The image goes blue.

You can also continue shooting while it's still on and the lens is off :)

Do we also have to point it downwards like we (I) do with still cameras? (to prevent dust from entering..)

It rather depends on the airflow. For example when the ground is hot, air (and airborne dust with it) is usually rising. So always point it in the opposite direction of any breeze.

It's like a DLSR camera in a field were you have to be lucky that dust is not entering inside the camera and dirtying the sensor. But as we know even Jackson has got a "speck" on CTL short movie.

I would guess that speck to be on the front of the lens, not at the sensor.

It would have to be a fairly good size speck on a very short focal length lens set to a pretty small stop to image on the film plane.
