View Full Version : firmware 1.1.8.6 strange behaviour

Ok, installed Redrocket firmware update 1.1.8.6, redcine-x b252 worked fine. Some days after, RC-X is useless, no image in the canvas, gets frozen when moving playhead. Turn off redrocket support and it works fine, turn it on and I loose it.
Tried re-installing the RR firmware update, and it worked fine... for some days, then again the same problem, if I install the update it works for a couple days and then the RR is dead.
Any idea?

Same exact problem. Just sent in a support request. Haven't been able to get it back by reinstalling the FW, though.

Also my rocket has the same issue but it doesn't work also if I reinstall the firmware. I send you the logs.

Red replaced my rocket and now everything works perfectly!

I tried the "safe mode" reboot method with the #8 toggle switch. It worked.

Seems like the same issue here, one of our rockets gave up, tried 'toggle 8 safemode' but still dead.
This is a bit scary! We are finishing a low budget feature for Sunday, lucky we had two!

Take card out, flick dipswitch 8 and put card back in. Reflash firmware, take card out reset dipswitch and reinstate.
Didn't work for us. Goodluck

There are a series of switches 1-8 on one corner of the board. They all face in the same direction. Move number 8 to be opposite the rest.
That is, flick the dipswitch!
The switch is on the underside opposite side of the fan the other end from the connectors. The switches are labelled 1-8 and on the other side of the switch gear it is clearly labelled on.
Our card could not be seem even when the dipswitch was on so we couldn't reflash it.

I have two boards which are different this is the new type which we believe is a different revision. How old are your boards that are failing? We only got this new model a week ago.

two days old, a refurbed one.
is this a software or hardware problem?

The fact that the firmware needs to be re-flashed would suggest that there is a hardware/software interface (eprom?) issue prompting the need to allow the board to be reset and the firmware reintroduced. I am no expert but that area would be my best guess.
But this is all conjecture as I am grading rolls of a feature for showing tomorrow morning and have a 30 minute window whilst they roll out of colour!

We have been asked to return ours, that's really all i know, the mac doesn't see the card.

ok my mac sees the card, its that redcine freezes when i load a clip to the viewer or get green bullshit

The point is that if your mac sees the card when you flip the dipswitch you get to reflash the firmware and reactivate the card, did you do this?
