Our long journey to shoot our AFI thesis project from October 10 - 17th on the RED is on the brink of collapse. We're looking for a RED hero with # 1 - 51 to volunteer to save the day.
Things were looking great a couple of days ago. Thanks to John, Vladimir, Evin, and Dino, we were able to get approval and put together a camera test this past Saturday, which we will be showing to our faculty this afternoon.
Our team produced a simple 6 shot sequence with the RED and the F900 with a full lighting setup on a professional set. The RED performed brilliantly (aside from a quirky focus calibration issue that we overcame) and the FCP workflow was fantastic. I will post both the RED and F900 sequences in a day or two, so you can all analyze the 'shootout'.
BUT... despite our best efforts, the sad IRONY is that, Vladimir's #87, which was the replacement for my own recently delayed RED #105, has been delayed until October 15th. 5 DAYS TOO LATE to use for our October 10th start day. I obviously would push back my shoot if I could, but we're locked into the dates that the school assigned us last June.
SO... we're looking for a VALIANT SOUL to come to the rescue with RED # 1 - 51 and join our band of RED warriors. If you want to put your camera to the test on a fully crewed professional 20 minute short movie production, then we'd love to have you. (Our Camera Operator / 1st AC is in the union and has worked in Network television for years, so you're baby will be well treated.)
I am happy to trade TWO days of my soon to arrive RED #105, for every day that you donate your RED to our October 10 - 17 shoot. You can do a multicamera production down the line or rent out my camera and keep the profits.
I can send you a resume, project brochure, script, storyboards, video storyboards, power point presentation, DVDs from my last three AFI projects, or even a blood sample to prove my worth.
We've come so far and I hate for 5 little days to stop our project from being RED.
PM, email, or call if your feeling like a hero.
Thank you,
Benjamin
