His comments after finishing "Guerrilla", shot in Spain.

"If the technical branch of the AMPAS, sometime in the next five years, doesn’t present RED with something heavier than a piece of paper, then they’re fools, and inattentive to boot.

Shooting with RED is like hearing The Beatles for the first time. RED sees the way I see. Someday I hope to find out exactly how Jim and his team made something so technologically advanced seem so organic, so beautifully attuned to that most natural of phenomena, light. But for now I’m just glad I’ve got my hands on the damn thing, because it’s actually making the film(s) better because of it emotionality. At the same time, I am still figuring it out, still trying to discover its secrets, still interacting with it. For me, this is Year Zero; I feel I should call up Film on the phone and say, “I’ve met someone.” Is it perfect? Not yet. But the flaws are fixable (the heat issue, which is being worked on; buttons that should be recessed; power cable from the rear of the camera), and anybody who doesn’t embrace the flashcard--regardless of time restraints--is an idiot.

But the best news of all is: If my lame hyperbole could adequately describe the image, it wouldn’t be RED." Steven Soderbergh

Hi Jim, do you know if a release date has been set for Guerrilla?
Are they looking to Cannes or Toronto for a premier?
This is going to be a major event for RED.

I feel I should call up Film on the phone and say, “I’ve met someone.”
That is an unbelievable quote from Soderbergh.

Awesome quote!

Now... any chance those button/power cord issues will be addressed by, say, the #800s or so? ;)

Well that kinda backs up my thoughts on the ambush test being a load of old cobblers.....real world feedback from someone as highly regarded as Mr. Soderbergh speaks volumes. When you're at the top of the game Jim every Tom, Dick 'n' Harry's gonna want to take a pot shot. This kinda feedback should just get rammed, very loudly, down the necks of any naysayer......you'll have a whole line of volunteers willing to do the 'wet' work if you don't wanna get your hands dirty!!

P.S The signature says it all.........

The Soderbergh quote should staunch the flow of blood from the ambush. Did some one call for a MEDIC! MEDIC!

Wow! Amazing quote!!! To go down the road he did, with an overheating, limited in features, "beta camera", and come out the other side with a quote like that speaks volumes to our collective future.

Nothing counters an ambush like an overwhelming assault.

Now if we could only get Soderberg to debut his trailer in 2K Prores on the RedUser site... :)

What more to say. Wake up and reading news like this puts a little smile on my face: Someday I will have this camera in my hand. I feel, I'm addicted and need everyday more quotes and more promises and statements like Soderberghs. Halleluja ;-) 222 where are you.

(There is a reason for Beta testing and few delays... better camera's.)

Thanks RED Team and Steven.

Last night was the first night that I fired up #39 and took my first shots.

I totally relate to the quote.

Jim, it is a marvel.

It is extremely well built, a pleasure to operate, and the post-production work-flow (even at this early stage) forgiving and intuitive.

The most impressive thing about the camera? The Red team, which has been supportive and available each time I called. In my particular case, Brent has been a super solid resource and helpful beyond belief.

You get thanked a lot on this board, so now I'll add my own voice -- I love this camera and the company of committed people that it represents.

Looks like Film and it's attendant infrastructure and knowlegeable practicioners, just got shot off it's horse twenty-miles from the nearest waterin' hole. Hope the canteen outlasts that sun.

I was looking for the tech specs of Guerrilla, and find it on IMDB! And even find some new titles, with RED ONE...

I just thought you may wanted to see Guerrilla's slate after the shooting.

We're not renting it any longer, we'll keep it as a collector's piece.

I wonder if I can use the same line to my wife so I can go away and make movies for a while.

Good question... will there be a facelift for this first series ?
Or will just RED TWO reflect those experiences..

Its all about modularity, right ?

The slate. The camera was a prototype, we just rented some accessories... Our cameras will be here in four weeks (luckily).

I know the heat issue has been dealt with but will the recessed buttons and power output placement be seen in December models? I've heard the same thing about the power on the back of the camera from people with #30. It would be great if that change was made. It's minor of course compared to all the things that went right on RED one. I have a little something like that for all film cameras as well of course. For example, the Arricam LT doesn't balance out on the shoulder with modern primes(s4's, ultra, and masters). Only smaller lighter Superspeeds. Wha?

I do wonder why they released the first cameras before this kind of feedback on the ergonomics of the hardware. This camera is so far ahead of its time. I could have waited a couple more months as those decisons are not upgradable by firmware of course.

Nothing is perfect. But we are getting close with Red and that's the best anyone will ever do. The feedback, this forum, and RED's willingness to listen is to credit for this.

I find the buttons to be ok, but then again, I've only shot with the camera once.

I think this is the best quote you could get because it's not a test. This is the REAL DEAL, shoot all the charts you want. This is from someone who shot SCENES to make a MOVIE.

It does not get better.

I have no idea about the schedule, but re: power output in particular- I could imagine that requiring redesign of interior circuit boards as well as a respin of tooling if the chassis is being die-cast, which can be a pretty big deal. It may be not something you'd do for an "inconvenience" type issue.

"...so organic..."

I remember a few who ironically laugh at me when i've said that a few months ago...

I'm glad i'm not alone to appreciate that virtue of RED image.

Can't wait to have mine.
