I had a thread posted, in the off topic section, and now it appears to be gone. What happened to it? It had a bit of math in it regarding the amount of money that a person (in this case a person named Jim) would make from one day's interest if they were a billionaire.
Why would that thread be removed?

Hi,
I think normal manners & common sense would answer your question.
Bear in mind even 30 year treasury bonds currently yield less than your conservative figure of 5%.

Manners and common sense??? What do those have to do with posting some numbers? Are there a bunch of people on this board that are scared of numbers? When a thread disappears it's like silencing free speech, lets keep that sort of thing off the boards.
BTW, one year CD's will yield 5% right now, higher if you've got more money to throw in.

You can be lucky, if you would post such numbers from a Well-off-Russian you got killed, here you only get censored. :)

sorry but one doesn't have the right to free speech on user forums ...
basically we are guest ... as a guest at somebody's house usually $$ & religion are considered a private conversation ...
if you want to let us know where there are some good interets rates on CD's - then list them ...
i prefer shorter term CD .. one year is just tooooooooooo long these days ... i've been going with 5 month 5.41% APY over at world savings

It was removed because some people felt it was an inappropriate topic. In other words, rude to discuss hypothetical (wild-ass guess) financial scenarios of someone in a public forum right in front of them.
I originally locked the thread. Jarred deleted it.
Nothing else to say here.
