I notice the camera not parallel to the chart :)

The two lines (vertical/horizontal) on the test chart are not parallel - I think the camera was pretty much parallel.

Kinda an unfair comparison swapping between F-stop and T-stop. Especially with old glass. However, it would appear that the oldest lens in the bunch, the Nikon AIS lens, takes the cake. Useful nonetheless. Keep it up Allstar.

Correction!
The Zeiss ZF looks the best at f/2.8 and the AIS a VERY close second.

Hi Allstar,

What does this test want to tell us? That Nikon "glass" is "almost" equivalent in quality to Zeiss Super Speeds with Red cameras? What is your intention? Are you working as Director of Photography? I think technical decisions depend on personal taste and budget consideration.

Please let us know.

Best Alexander

You will likely get much sharper results with the modestly priced Nikkor 50mm f1.8 than the Nikkor f1.4. Of course if the f1.4 aperture is mandated by the light level, that won't be the ticket.

My 50mm Zeiss ZF is really sharp and one of my favorite lenses to use.
