Avid’s Media Composer and Symphony are now light years ahead in RED workflows from where they were only months ago. AMA (Avid Media Access) has been completely reengineered to work natively with major file-based media formats including .R3D.

With the new and improved AMA (http://www.avid.com/US/products/Avid-Media-Access) you can speed up RED workflows by directly accessing RED files in Media Composer 5. This means real time playback of .R3D files without any dedicated hardware!

Casey Richards of Avid will demo the new RED workflow in Media Composer. DS Artist Michael Forrest will show RED film resolution finish in Avid DS. Make sure you enter the raffle for Media Composer 5 door prize courtesy of Avid.

Focus Optics will show their new wide short zoom “Ruby” 14-24mm T2.8. (http://www.focusoptics.com/newruby.htm) This is an extremely sharp PL mount lens that covers the full frame 35 and it works on a range of cameras including RED ONE and Canon 7D. Bearings are installed in the zoom races and in the rear optics to minimize any image shift.

Joining Focus Optics is John Ryan who will demo OmniRig (http://e3dcreative.com/), a rugged exoskeleton stereoscopic rig. OmniRig can be transported fully built and never needs to be broken down so you can be shooting in less then 5 minutes after pulling up to a location. It hardly requires time consuming camera realignment.

TurnkeyHD will park their versatile production/post-production Sprinter van (http://www.turnkeyhd.com/sprinter) on the rooftop. The vehicle has a Mega High Roof and 170” wheelbase providing ample headroom for post work on location. The Sprinter has a customizable grip and electric package.

Steve Ecclesine a veteran indie producer will present a three part lecture on the nuts and bolts of producing films and TV shows.

Steve has worked for several big shots, most of the studios and networks on big and small productions. It’s a chance to learn from someone who has been there and done that. Highly recommended for starting producers and indie filmmakers.

We will have copies of Steve’s book “So You Wanna Be a Producer?” (http://www.soyouwannabeaproducer.com/) available for purchase at a 20% member discount. Steve will be taking questions between the sessions.
