View Full Version : Quick test for any early camera owners

I have a test request for any of the current camera owner's. This is a really simple test and should only take a moment to make.

Here is what I need.

Shoot a diffuse light source (back lit silk would be perfect) and hit it with enough light to assure that every receptor is fully saturated (clipped). Several stops over exposed at a minimum, the idea is to assure that there are no sites that will yield any value other than D min. Then all I need is one .rd3 frame from this situation.

The second part of the test is the same, but this time with the lens or body cap on. Again, I only need one frame of .r3d.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to accomplish this for me, I will be very grateful.

What are you testing for?

Actually, several things. The first test will, if my assumption is correct, will define the minimum size .r3d file possible. The second test is actually the first part of a series of tests that I want to run, but since it is so simple and very like the first one, I thought it would be simple enough to accomplish at the same time. Once I have some data, I will be happy to share the results with anyone interested.

you can't have one fame of .rd3, only one frame of another file format (DPX, TIFF, ETC) created from the .r3d file - which is contains frames in a single file (or files if your shot exceeds 2G size limit of FAT32)

shooting a full a second and dividing the result by whatever-framerate might solve the problem. shouldn't take significantly longer than the requested frame.

Is the minimum shot duration limited by how quickly you can press the stop-start button? I understand from Jarred's post that the beta firmware now being tested, which does up to 72 fps in 2k cropped mode, also goes down to 1 fps.

Assuming that the interval function isn't yet enabled, then the shortest practical duration will certainly suffice.
