Is there any information on possible automation control protocol for the Red Ray Pro?
Are there limitations to frame rates that can be controlled by automation?
Is there any information on Cinema closed captioning standard possible from the Red Ray Pro?
Thanks
David

So is there any information released at NAB2011 on the above questions?

Maybe you could expand on your questions David, not sure I follow what you are asking for specifically.

David, when you say automation control protocol, do you mean home automation with a Crestron type system?
As far as closed caption, the FCC is currently evaluating SMPTE Timed Text, which is a subset of DFXP. This will most likely be the mandatory format for subtitles and closed captions on digital media. This is all tied to the what Obama signed in October. Until the working group(s) (There are three of them) actually select a format, not much can be done. Google is moving towards SRT, which the FCC is not currently considerin.

Hi Stuart
Does Red have there own automation protocol? Example for protocols for production or broadcast control of Video Disk are Louth/Harris VDCP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_Disk_Control_Protocol or proprietary GVG AMP http://www.gvgdevelopers.com/concrete/apis/amp_protocol/documentation/ (http://www.gvgdevelopers.com/concrete/apis/amp_protocol/documentation/)

There are several established protocols - via Ethernet, RS422 and / or RS232 - that we can support on RED RAY.
But yes, we probably will offer a RED native command set via Ethernet too.

I'm also really interested in this question.
We are are a custom home-theater installer and use a lot of automation, from Crestron to Control 4 to control the whole system through RS-232, IR, Ethernet, etc... I'm dying to start talking with Red about distributing or at least selling your Red-Ray player...

I am assuming that would be the consumer version Yannick ?

An other option for the consumer version is a Iphone or Ipad remote control app via wireless network.

I am assuming that would be the consumer version Yannick ?
As the price of the consumer version will be more end-user friendly, yes.
This said, we have consumers in China who could easily afford a 4k player at about 10K$. But then the content ain't really ready yet so they would be pretty frustrated if we sell them this kind of products right now i think. And the pro version only come with hd-sdi outputs right ? No hdmi ?
If you're looking for distributors for Red Ray in general, i think we should talk... China is a big market and i think we're working with highly demanding and quite wealthy customers...
PS : I second David for the Iphone/Ipad/Android... control app, as well as a good compatibility with automation products like Crestron, Control 4.... Of course installers like us will be able to setup those system to work with Red Ray with IR/RS232/Ethernet but if you can provide those brands a driver, it's even better...
