Hello Redusers, I hope i am posting this question on the right thread. I am setting up my Red-Rocket DMT kit and plan on using the wiebetech RTX-400 Raid drive tower. I was under the impression that I could use each bare drive i place in the tower separately. As in I oculd swap them out with post, use one as a transport drive. I seem to only get it to read as one HD on the desktop. Can you separate them and make it so I can swap drives in and out? I hope so, as my workflow requires this. Did I buy the right tower? Any help is appreciated. Thanks and best to all,
Andrew

Which RTX-400? There are several variants, and you need one which supports JBOD mode to see them as individual disks. Not all versions do.

You are right Nick, and thank you. I bought the expensive one (RTX-400QR) thinking it had all the bells and whistles. Turns out the project Im on does not require JBOD so Im alright, but I like the ability of keeping drives individual. I suppose their is no harm in having both. A JBOD only system is of course quite a bit cheaper. Thanks again and all the best,
Andrew

you should check out the addonics RTIV35M2SAH,
works in JBOD, trayless design, up to 3x 3,5", 2x 2,5"
it's big and ugly( personal taste) but it works fine, only one esata cable and one normal powersupply cable, good cooling for extented use.
