View Full Version : Losing resolution every other frame

I'm working with R3Ds shot on build 30, 120fps @ 2K, from an M-X. And I'm seeing some very weird stuff. At full debayer, I have many clips where every other frame appears to be about half the resolution.

As you can see, one frame looks fine, while the next is lower resolution. This toggles back and forth. From what I've seen, it seems to be only in the 2K/120fps clips, and only in those that have a lot of detail or high frequency movement. I remember something a long time ago about how lots of detail could choke REDCODE, but every other frame here looks just fine.

Some clips look good until there's a lot of movement, then they start toggling back and forth between these two different qualities, and the clip never recovers, even if the movement subsides.

These artifacts also appear in QT exports from REDCINE-X.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Alan

Stuart is this only at 2K?

Yes, it only happened in 2K and near 120 fps...

Thanks for your reply. Are the R3D files salvageable? Or is this something that happens in the camera?

(If it happens) it happens in the camera, so it's in the recorded .R3D file.

No obvious way to restore the odd frames I'm afraid.
