Hi folks, maybe someone could help here:
Do I have to order all my stuff right now in order to have it at the time my cam is ready or is it enough to just order the camera body to get in line and take care of all the other stuff later ?

Good question, but I would probably order
at a minimum the basic pack, battery & charger,
Flash module. I have no idea if all of the accessories
will be available when you actually take delivery
of your camera. I am awaiting the lens tests that
will take place this weekend. I was going the Nikon route
but events are converging here that may push me
back to PL mount lenses.....

i think that it is possible to order just camera body now and to add the rest of things later. They told me that if you reserve it now you are on list and when your camera will be ready there is no problem to order what you want because they increase their production at this time.

just out of curiousity, what is making you lean? I ask because I am in the same boat. I'm leaning because of the mechanics of focus.

I think you just add assecoires to your order with your account and pay another
deposit.
For altering the order you have to call (for kicking something out of your order)
But i dont know how it is with the Zooms....i saw in some profiles red zoom reservation numbers...

I think I should order body and lenses directly, then. But on the other hand: Ordering the rest of the stuff also wouldn´t make much difference in the 10%deposit one has to make to order.
Anyone here knows about what they will deliver when you order a 8GB CF originally, but they approve 16GB or even 32GB until you cams ready ? Whould they deliver the bigger Cfs then ?

i think the bigger CF cards cost more...so again two ways: just add and pay the deposit or change by calling.

Hello, several factors....
I have been polling customers and other shooters who may
want to rent my camera with me being the DIT.
My first mindset was thinking HVX-redrock-nikon and that the RED
with nikon would be the way to go. But after dozens of
conversations - no one wanted to entertain the thought of
using still lenses.....so I really am curious about the lens
tests coming up. Several agencies I have talked with and have
done work with - have heard of RED but in the past we have
shot with VariCam, film or HVX for most of these clients.
It is really a perception thing more than anything else....
But if it the difference between getting a gig or not then
PL I am leaning. And several rental houses who have not
ordered RED want to sub-lease from me so they can rent
lenses and other kit that would go unrented if a client was
wanting to shoot RED. I may order another RED body that I can
dedicate my nikkors to....

probably CFs could be left out of the order for a while. Until Ihave my REDsomeday in May or June they probably will have the bigger ones ready...

red= order+ pay deposit
redrock MB = just listed as reservation holder...you will get a mail and have three days to answer.

I see. I´ll do it tomorrow. For the MB, I´ll go with Chrosziel again, like always. probably one of my Chrosziels will fit the Red also.

Ok, just ordered. But besides an e mail confirming the order, nothing else came through. Do they still give you a reservation number or camera serial number ?

probrably better not to ask when it will arrive...because delivery dates can change.
would be good to know something like you are between 3500-4000.

Yeah, just contacted them and asked about serial numbers. The auto reply told me there is no such thing for orders after February 07, so my question is answered already. Nonetheless, I expect them to tell me about the est. delivery date. Last info on that was May, June with an order early October.
When did you order yours ? Where are you in the waiting line ?

I have e-mailed to red several times, I want to transfer the deposit through Bank transfer. I live in Indonesa and have limited credit card. Since now I got no answer from Red regarding Bank details or whatsoever instructions, how would they trace my order without a proforma or something.
Is anyone there who knows whom I should contact in order to place my order. 3 weeks past already and nothing came back to me from red.
I would be obliged if someone could give me a useful info.
Thanks

i dit it via bank transfer...but you have to pay a fee.
and you will have to tell your bank !! that you are paying the transfer fee of yours and the fee of the receiver.
was around 20 €
and dont forget the reference number of yours!

Thank you Berlin. Where did you get their Bank details and how did you describe your order if not through their web-order oage. There is no option there of a Bank wire transfer, only credit card. Can you please give me some details. For the moment I have two "Ordering tichet numbers" as I e-mailed them several times. Can you write me what you did exactly. My e-mail is yantra@dps.centrin.net.id
Thank you.

What do you meen if I have an order..., an order is confirmed with a downpayement. If I cannot pay my deposit what order do I have? I am just asking how to pay by bank transfer instead of using a credit card..

Well no, there is a procedure in place once you have placed an order. So I'm a little suspicious of you, because if you went to the store and filled out an order, you would know what needs to happen in order for the transaction to continue. So why don't you know? It's actually pretty straightforward....and that info that they emailed you should contain all of the relevant info that you need....also, there is a phone number to contact them at....
