Hi Reduser,

for sure im not the only one having problems with the 4K res of the raw red files. Its impossible to work with it if you work on a personal computer (like me, iMac 3ghz, 4gb ram)

Until now i war working with QT on 1920x1080 with apple pro res 422. The problem is - i lost all my qt in reason of a hdd crash. Now i need to code all my red raw files back to QTs -> with a iMac...

Im having about 60 hours of raw material. One sec encoding to QT 1920x1080 with h264 OR even no codec takes about one min.

1 sek --encoding--> 1 min

Is there any way (except of a red rocket) to make this faster? Any Codec, or a different solution. I just need files i can work with so the director can do the raw master cutting by himself and the sound technician can add the external sound to the clips in final cut.

Thank you for your help and best regards
Emin

I had close to realtime using Clipfinder to 1k ' 1/4th debayer prores for offline.

I dunno if this is similar with RCX, but this way you could save a hell-of-a-lot-of-time, only taking what you need at full debayer 1080 for online, conforming the lot with clipfinder.

I'd have worked this way if I didn't have a rocket...

Hey Gunleik,

thanks a lot, that seams to be a good + fast way changing the debayer settings at recinde-x to 1/4.

Now ive got another problem - i can not choose the prores codec. There is no option for that. Any Idea?

Do you have FCS installed?

I guess you have, but you need that installed to transcode to prores...

Just a shot in the dark...

You are right. Ive checkt my other iMac with Final Cut installed and there i can use ProRes without a prob. This is really annoying, now i have to install final cut on all these computers...

is there any codec which is close to pro res 422?

No you don't...

Go to library/quicktime on the computer where you have FCS installed, copy the prores codec to the same library on the other computer.

You may need QTpro, though. Dunno.

Thanks.

I think there is no more pro version of qt in the new apple os. I will try to find the library. Thanks for all the help

You need the "regular" quicktime installed for this to work anyway...
