Well guys, I didn't really want to post this stuff because it was more just fooling around than anything serious, but it looked like everyone else was having all the fun so I decided to jump in!

I didn't think there was much sense in posting all the uncorrected and uncompressed tiffs because this was all shot under less than ideal conditions. This is really just more fun RED pics to look at than it is an exercise of serious analysis. When Project Red's real production gets underway (yes it's still coming but we're working out some issues) we will post as much as we can of the RAW footage. For now, here is something new to chew on.
If anyone would like to see an uncompressed and uncorrected version of anything just let me know and Ill throw it up.

Although substantially based upon references obsessively collected, your rants (posted out there) are simply ridiculous. Pure envy. Take a look on your picture. Rather non-professional, actually.

Hi Don, Im not entirely sure who that was directed towards but rest assure I never claimed these images to be 'professional.' Just the opposite in fact. I thought others would enjoy seeing what early camera owners have been fooling around with in their spare time. Ill reserve judgement though because I don't really understand your comment.

cool pics...
but back to the focus issue...
an incorrectly set flange focal distance.
i am not living in CA and if i have this problem, it would take too much time to send it back...if i do it at my place, i think this would have an effect to the warranty

Obviously I hit the target there very successfully and now here on other treads of the forum the leftover survivors like you are trying to say something.
What can I say now?
Simply, no comment!
Please, I would like to disscuss just a topic of this tread only.

Hmmmm???
If you bought a RED lens why wouldn't RED mount it up
and make sure everything was OK??
I saw Jim's note about loose PL mounts but that would mean
RED was not putting every camera on the bench?
Or is it supposed to be good coming out of the factory??
How is Q&A done at the factory??

You should contact Red and Im sure they will take care of you. They have arranged for me to take my camera to a local camera house and Im sure they would do the same for you.
Feel free to discuss the the FFD issue on project red, lets keep this thread focused on the images!
Thanks.

Shutter speed? Oh you must be referring to my poor mans NDs :)
I didnt have any ND and I was already at T22 so I had to pump up the shutter speed to control the light. I dont remember what it was off hand but yes, it was fast.

Actually I really like this image, even uncorrected.
http://projectred.net/blog_images/20071002/skyline_sun.jpg
I have to admit the "solar eclipse" effect actually works in this shot. But assuming you want the blown-out highlights (eg. the sun's disc) to be white and not grey/black, does anyone know if that is something that can be changed in firmware?
Some of these pictures really show off how good RedAlert and REDCODE RAW works combined. Just take a look at picture (birds_02_uncorected_thumb.jpg) vs ((Birds_03_thumb.jpg). If you look at the down right corner, you can see a blown out building in the uncorrected picture while the second one have plenty of information. Can’t love this enough!
Hi jbeale, Maybe do the effect in post might be a good idea. You will have better control of the effect IMO. Nevertheless, good question.

Yes i've been surprised that I can pull information out of the seemingly blown out highlights. Hasnt been the case in every instance but the images have plenty of latitude to play with.
