Probably far past the point of relevancy, but did anyone hear about anything going on with the G35? I heard that some announcement was supposed to happen around October.
The image looks so good and I know plenty of low-budget productions that could still benefit from using one.

anyways,

There was some talk by the creator over at dvxuser I believe.
The new version was rumored to be vibrating instead of static because the static grain was too visible in HD.

Last I heard the creator of the G35 was trying to get some collaboration with the maker of the MPIC at the same time I was supposed to be involved with MPIC. Maybe a year ago, if I remember. None of it ever happened to the best of my knowledge.

My understanding is that Dennis and the Cinevate were going to be bringing the MPIC's creators' follow focus to market, which would tell me that Dan (MPIC) has some faith in how far the Brevis has come. If Dan's follow focus makes it to market with Cinevate there will be the one-two-punch. Dan's brilliant follow focus and Dennis' brilliant adapter.

My opinion on the G35 is that it was never really ready to go all that time ago and as recently as a year ago.

My understanding of the story went like this:

The G35 was ready to rock. But unfortunately when the HVX came out the higher resolving power came into play and what was great for SD all of a sudden became grainy.

As a result the G35 needed a motion mechanism since everybody was going HD. The MPIC had a great motion mechanism but no large volume production ambitions. Seemed like a match made in heaven but then the maker of the MPIC last september decided that he didn't want to be involved with Cinemek and withdrew his offer to collaborate. As a result Cinemek was left with a good piece of GG but no mechanism to make it move so they stalled.

Similio and other shorts were proof the adapter worked for SD but it's just too small of a market I imagine. Especially if you can buy a RedRock for the same price and use it with both SD and HD.
