Hello

I have the opportunity to buy an Arri MB 16 mattebox w/ an eyebrown and a full set of mattes plus a 4x5.6 set of NDs, 85s, and a few other filters for $250.00. The mattebox as well as everything else is in top condition. Even comes with several rods. This seems like a really good deal but have not been able to find out their value.

Anybody familiar with this setup, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Kit even comes with donut and with other goods.

Thank you

$250? Are you sure?

Tell you what, you really don't want this at all. Have the guy PM me and I will be happy to save you the trouble of having to deal with this.

Seriously, a set of NDs alone will cost several times that. At best, I suspect that an error in the placement of the decimal point might explain. $2500.00 wouldn't be too bad at all for this kit.

generally when its too good to be true, you should stay away. This is worth at least $3000.

here is info on the Arri:

It's an estate sale. Guy used to make travelogues back in the 60's through the 90s. Lady who is selling off all this gear now tells me that there are several cases filled with filters. Most are 4x5.6 with a few 4x4s. I'm all most afraid to see all these filters since I'm not sure how bad I'll feak out. The MB16 is in great shape. It even has the filter whip. I'll prbably buy as many filters as I can and auction off what I don't need. Most are Tiffens with some B&Ws. I go old school when it comes to filtration. Achieve it in camera.

Joe, you lucky dog....

I say, get it while the gettin' is good. I might be interested in some filters if you see fit to part with some of the extras.

Ya right and she also is selling his '64 corvette with 500 miles that is under a cover in the garage for $1,000 because it is an "old car".

I would normally dismiss such a deal as a scam... But Joe's posts read as if he's already seen the mattebox. Joe, don't hand over any money until you see the goods. ;)

Why did the move my post?

Just picked up the MB16. It's in excellent shape. Some dust seems to have "soaked" into the plastic shade. Been aplying WD40, seems to help.

She has a big collection of filters, almost all of them are Tiffens with a 4x5.6 BW pola and a 4 1/2" BW Pola. There are close to 60 filters in this case, all of them ar in there nylon and fake leather pouches. None of them are labeled so i didn't look at them all. There are a bunch of Corals... solids and grads. There is an enhancing filter (I know that is worth some bucks) a Day for Night. Antique Suedes. Chocolates. ND Grads (horizontal and Vert) Black Pro mists. Fogs. She won't sell individually. She knows that I know that they're are worth a bunch. She's going to ask her husband's friends what they are worth then give me a price.

Again, there is nearly 60 filters. Most are 4x5.6. Probably five 4 1/2. Four 6x6. And several 4x4. All of the 4x4s are Corals.

As cool as your great deal on the MB-16 is, it doesn't really belong on the main RED One discussion forum. :)

Sounds interesting. There may be a good deal to be had there...

I would recommend that you never apply WD-40 or any other oil or silicone lubricant to anything that you might want any kind of tape, velcroe or any adhiesve back subsance to stick to.
