You know it's time to hit this forum with some news or controversy or something...
We're starving for some fresh info/reason for discussion.
It's been pretty quiet.

I think they're in London. You might need to give him a couple of days.
Although I THINK Europe has internet access :)

Doctor Who on RED what a glorious thought.
The Mill NY has already taken a look. Have the london office call them to get some impressions and let's see Doctor Who Season 2,749 (that's the season we're on right?) shot on RED.

Using birds for internet access is actually an internet standard. (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1149) They even added quality of service. (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2549)

Jim and Jarred have been spending the last two days turning my DP from a hard-nosed sceptic into a raving fanboy

My assistant carries my posts on IBM's 96 column punch cards. We've switched from 80 column ones.
Pretty next gen stuff.
The woman in a post office is much happier now, because his card reading skills have improved significantly.

They should've come last week and brought a RedOne along to the London meetup we had! Nevermind :)

A "...lens factory..." in the UK? Hmmm, I wonder who that might be? :whistling:

Don't laugh. Where I work, the in-house network is so slow, it's actually quicker for me to copy large image files onto a flash drive and physically carry them up to the people on the next floor. (That's about 20-30 times the data transmission rate of the network:-)
Then there's the "Xerox Document Center". It can take up to a hour for a largish PDF file to print, where the same one will print in a couple on minutes on my desk laser printer (but not, unfortunately double-sided).
And every now and again the Xerox will spontaneously print out a document that someone put onto the network months before.....

Hi Stephen,
Just curious as to why you think they need to?

Something tells me the Sigma theory has something to do with it?

Well, my DP had a good look at the two Zooms over the last couple of days and was impressed. So much so he's insisting I buy them both (which I was going to do anyway).

So, he got a look at the 50-150mm prototype then? Great, I would love to hear more. Sounds like the whole deal would be a fun story to read... ;-)
Cheers-- Andrew

Hi Häakon,
Sigma is not the weakest link here! This is the factory thats charging Jim extra for T stops markings.

Hi Stephen,
As a lens buff yourself like we all know, something tells me you might be considering stocking on the Red lot yourself, is that a fair assessment?

Oh, yeah, an African swallow maybe, but not a European swallow, that's my point.

Hi,
I want to test a set of primes plus the 18-85, those lenses are the most interesting for me right now.

If you have nothing else to do while Jim is somewhere, why don't you check a wildlife short film I made for the Finnish Broadcasting Company the last year. You can download a mpg1-file from
http://www.luontovideo.net/Video%20gallery.html
This is part of a larger series, and gives an idea what sort of stuff I'm going to do with the Red One. Hope you enjoy the film. I worked with the series for two years, and at least it was a very pleasant project.

Thanks,

But then of course, African swallows are non-migratory.

David, Thanks for your kind words. Exploring the Canadian wilderness is one of my long lasting dreams; It's something I really would like to experience.
Guess our nature is otherwise similar to the Canadian one except we are quite a lot in further north implying the duskd and dawns are here much longer. The ever changing light next to the artic circle -where this short film was mainly shot- is something one has to experience. As well, my hope is that RED One will finally be the camera which will enable us to show what the artic light is all about: Every month of the year has its distinctive colors.

I agree completely; unfortunately those lenses happen to be the longest off. :-\

This is true. I've shot in the Arctic a few times and the light it always magnificent. The never ending sunsets and the way they bleed right back into sunrise are among my favorite memories. The conditions, the harshness of the land, the solitude and the very real dangers are exhilarating.
