Okay, so aja comes out with a converter similar to blackmagic's hdlink 3d and looking at the specs they only offer SS,TB and frame packing outputs. Is it so hard to include an anaglyph mode for us poor guys that can't afford a transvideo solution for on-set checking?

It's a bit more processing to create anaglyph in RT - anyway - the blackmagic hd link 3D is a disaster - so I'm grateful that AJA made this product.

Me too I guess, but I wouldnt mind paying more for an anaglyph version. Lets hope IBC brings other on-set toys...

Does it do any HIT so you can shoot parallel?

I second that! I've tried 2 HDLink 3D units and neither works at all! And of course, Blackmagic claims that they don't even test the hardware before it leaves the factory. Then they tried to tell me it only works with one kind of adapter display port - HDMI adapter which I bought but of course that doesn't work either. What a joke! This is a major reason why I refuse to just go out and buy Resolve. Regardless of the previos reputation, this is a new port over to Mac and I refuse to rely on Blackmagic Hardware to output. Get it together BMD!

...And yet almost every time I say something like this about BMD hardware, people get their panties in a twist. I'm ready to buy DaVinci Resolve as soon as someone can show me the HDlink Extreme 3D works perfectly, with perfectly rendered colors every time, actually works in 3D, etc.. Until then, I wait until it supports AJA.
Anyway, back on topic. The Hi5 3D looks great!
Anaglyph is over.

I hven't had a problem with the Blackmagic Design box with any camera other than RED.

Sorry off topic.... but many of us are optimistically eager for feedback about
Resolve Mac success stories and configurations...Does it live up to the hype and promise to have Very similar functions as a full blown DaVinci suit?

David, We've been playing with it for about a week and so far we love it. I am setting it up in our screening room today so we can really play with. The biggest problem so far is the limit of only 4 slots in the Mac, we may have to get a expander, or I'm going to put 6 400gb SSD's in this 12 core.

Thanks Jonny
What hand tool system are you using?

What do you mean? We are using a Tangent Wave with it for the time being. We should take this to a DaVinci thread.

in response to the anaglyph question, there are ways to do it. Of course all pros agree that anaglyph is not a suitable format for much of anything, but it is a mode on the Transvideo and it is so ubiquitous and easy it seems it will always be around lurking in the dark corners of 3D. To say it is "over" is an exaggeration. If you must do it, one option is to convert your signals to analog component RGB and connect the green and blue signals of your right eye and the red signal of your left eye to one analog monitor. I'm not sure if this is a low cost solution because you would need two HD-SDI to analog component converter boxes, but maybe those are inexpensive on ebay or something, just a thought.

The Red's signal is 1.5 Gb/s and all of BlackMagic's new 3D hardware will not work with anything but a 3Gb/s signal. I have both 3D HD-SDI Card and 3D HDlink. The problem has nothing to do with BlackMagic, the real problem is the Red itself. I've had no problems when I use a re-clock/Digital Amplifier before the HDlink. I just could never get the right displayport adapter to test the 3D abilities. 3cP is the real reason I use the box anyway. Color the signal, then save LUT, CDL & Color Report..
