Did anyone manage to do this correctly?

REDCINE loads correctly all the shots but the in and out points are wrong. :-(

To be more precise, there are NO in/out points. It just imports the entire shot.

I suspect it's a problem of Vegas more than REDCINE-X. Maybe the EDL it exports isn't CMX 3600?

EDIT: Just analyzed the export script and it says in the comments that it is CMX 3600...

Did you have the same problem Jeremiah?

Hi Miltos,

I looked at your edl and the format is absolutely correct and supported.

I suspect the timecodes are incorrect. If the parser has any trouble mapping
the specified timecodes to clip in/out points, it will just revert to using
the entire clip.

When I get a chance I'll take a closer look at this.
In the meantime if you learn anything more about this issue please
pass it on, so I can incorporate any necessary changes into RCX.

Thanks!

David

Definately looks like your edl/timecodes are your issue.

If you look a the EDL (you posted on the other page) all your source timecodes are starting at the 00:00:00:00 hour mark. This leads me to believe that either the original transcoded clips brought into Vegas have no timecode, or something is happening when you are trying to export the edl.

Only my guess...

Cheers

Joel

Vegas doesn't transcode the original clips. It edits R3Ds natively.

I think your observation about the 00:00:00:00 hour mark is into something.

OK, i think i found what the problem is.

Vegas can't read the timecode from R3D files!

It's actually very easy to demonstrate the problem. Select the "Add timecode to all Media" script form the Tools menu and you will see that the timecode that is now displayed on the viewport has nothing to do with the timecode in the R3D file!

Wow! Vegas supports R3D natively in the timeline for more than a year and nobody tried to fix this problem.

Disappointed...

Never used Vegas before. But is it possible that it is reading the wrong TC within the R3D raw file? Just an idea.. has Vegas got many settings you can change for its EDL creation? or possible import properties?
