Hi Everyone,
I was wondering whether you could tell me the size rates of the different quality formats the RED camera transfers onto the red hard drive. i.e. how many megabytes/second are transferred if filming with 1K, 2K, etc?
Thanks alot

redcode raw rates are variable but you can assume 30MB/sec for 4k (2.5 hours on red drive) and 8MB/sec for 2k (10 hours on red drive). all formats lower than that are currently not enabled and are still up in the air.

Oh I see, thanks guys. So as for now, there is still no idea whether the lower formats are being developed or not.
As regards to the red hard drive space, the one currently on stock is 320GB allowing for approx. 2 hours of 4k footage to be stored right? Are there any plans of making hard drives with much more capacity?
Thanks

The size is based on current market availability, so as they get larger, so will the Red Drive.
It consists two fast laptop drives in a RAID. With laptop drives, the general rule is the larger the capacity, the slower the speed so I assume they are the largest capacity that can handle the job.
At this rate, the initial release may even be larger capacity, particularly if much more time passes!
