I don't work for Red (and I believe your question is directed toward them) but I can't imagine Red increasing the price on customers who have put the 10% down at the current price. At least, I hope not.

I would kinda consider the deposit a contract between myself and RED. Let's just say, if they ever tried to raise the price on something that people had a deposit on, I think many people would be very pissed.

Have you ever experianced a price rise with computer or digital equipment? I have only seen prices fall, usually quite sharply.

We´ll see about that. Think in case of Red it might also be possible to have a rise in the price somewhere in the future. But for those of us with a reservation I think the price will be the 17.500 $. They won´t piss off there early fans ;)

3.000 4K cameras are going to go out in one year, to a lot of small time producers. By this month next year, a RED will me more common in a small production company or filmmakers vocabulary than a Final Cut Pro system. How can the prices possibly go up? I mean, better more expensive accessories, sure, but increasing the price on the platform? That seems most unlikely. Then again, I haven't put down a cent yet (I hate being poor!).

If you haven't already done so by now, I would place an order if I were you.
I know a few people who have been watching the development of the camera for some time and who now wish they would have placed their orders in along time ago. They're just getting around to placing their orders in now and are not too happy about the wait.
