Hi there,
Just curious what 3D playback solutions are you all using? I'm particularly interested in systems that will playback 16-bit TIFFs or DPX sequences.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Scratch. Is is sold in modules. If you only need it as a review station you only need one (or maybe two?) modules. Still not a cheap solution, though. But VERY stable.

Johnny,
I did some searching for ANT, but didn't come up with anything. Care to elaborate?
Frederik,
Scratch sounds good from what I've heard, but I feel like we'd still be paying for more features than we need. Really, all we need is playback, and not much else.
We're currently using DepthQ to drive two polarized projectors through DVI, but having to transcode is a pain.
IRIDAS FrameCycler DDS sounds like it might do what we want. Any experience with that?

Ant is from IFX. It was the first program to do a lot of R3D realtime color correction and stereo stuff. It is based on Piranha. Runs on Linux with Mac version very soon. It works in float and the DPX renders from it are amazing. We have used it on some some pretty big shows.

We use RV http://www.tweaksoftware.com/news/rv-release
Works pretty well when checking our composites.

Charles,
as Lucas said, you donīt know what you will be paying. ;)
Scratch is a very streamlined, stable and mature app. Compared to a Smoke on Mac on very comparable hardware, itīs turbo charged in terms of dealing with 1080/2K DPX sequences. It truly flies.
You may know this, but Scratch was initially a playback station. They have built a finishing system around one of the best DPX playback engines in the industry. You can even hook up a Mac formatted raid and as long as you have MacDrive on your system, Scratch will see it and it doesnīt seem to slow it down at all.
Also, with Scratch you can add features and capabilities to the system when the situation demands it. You can go from only playback, then playout, then primary CC, secondary CC, compositing etc. They might even rent you the modules you need if you only need it for a specific period.
