Post Workflow - Transcode RED Rocket

Hi All,

I'm a post production co-ordinator looking at some equipment upgrades and I'm hoping to get some advise on RED ONE/R3D ingest.

Currently around 70% of or work is shot on RED, normally received on 3rd party drive. We ingest using either FCP log and transfer or RED Rushes and RED Alert to create ProRes422 Proxies for offline and ProRes 4444 for Online.

the RED site isn't too explicit about the RED Rocket card, will it speed up transcodes? Will it work with external drives or isit for ingest direct from RED media?

If it will hardware accelerate ingest and transcode then I'lll be buying one tomorrow! Please help, an explict description of it's functionality would be greatly appreciated!

From your description, you need at least one Rocket...

You can do batch in many ways, but I don't know how to do longer shots/productions without anymore... -:)

30 secs is ok without it. Maybe... -:)

jep, go for a RedRocket Card.
We have two machines now running with the Rocket card and it makes live so much easier.
