Ok ... it kills me to post things this small and crushed to the board, but limits are limts.
Just a tease for a bunch of material that Emery is going to put up on projectred.net.
These are amazing even at small size, but trust me, the 4K source is absolutely sick.
Very light color correct in RED Alert -- did my best but I confess that it isn't my strong suit.

Thanks Scott. What are your impressions of the EVF so far... How did it compare to the lcd for focus? How were the "in the field" ergonomics with positioning while on the shoulder, et al?
Sorry for all the questions but I am a little down the line...
Cheers,
Andrew

Yes, Andrew is right. I'd also like to know something on subject. It would be especially useful these days.
Emery, Kate rocks!

Bearing in mind that my unit is not a final shipping model, I can make the following general observations:
It is extremely helpful on a very sunny day, obviously.
The controls are extremely intuitive -- the one touch zoom-in focus assist is very helpful and the rotating wheel to select functionality is great and easy to use with one hand.
The resolution is great and lets you get very close to the right focus. You need to be right on the money, however, and a tape measure will be necessary versus "eyeing-it" if you want your target to be crisp and in focus. This is not a fault of the EVF -- the sensor is just that good.
Saturday I judged exposure by False Color, set on the Camera and displayed in the EVF. On Sunday, I switched over to using Zebras (set for 90-100 IRE to err on the side of caution because it was so bright). Both work well, but I personally prefer Zebras. Note of course, that you would see the same striped bars whether monitoring on the VF or LCD -- they are just easier to see on a bright day in the EVF.
Regarding overall hand-held ergonomics, there is no getting around the fact that this is a heavy camera with lens, battery, EVF, etc -- see my earlier post on the main RED board for one preferred arrangement for balance.

Thanks. Did you already test the Graeme's magic focus assist?
