View Full Version : Can we get an Adobe forum pleeeeeaaaaaaaaaaseeeeee??

I know this is a double post, but I'm doing it on purpass...

There STILL isn't an Adobe section.
I don't understand:

a REDCINE section (yep, clear)
an APPLE section (yep clear)
an AVID section (yep clear)
but no... Adobe?

Is adobe being discriminated here?
I know this probably isn't true, and I don't want to bad mouth the moderators, but still: people have been asking now for how long?
1.5 month?

Don't get me wrong: if I *ever* have a RED, I will be switched to mac, but I'm just doing this out of principle: it seems a bit like their wishes are just ignored on this board...
How hard is it to just make a different section with the name:
ADOBE section?

So, to be a bit of a pain in the ass, but to *maybe* get a speed-up:
pleeeaaaaaaaase, get the people who want it, an ADOBE section, which is only fair considering they are a fairly big audience, and the other 'big A's', got their section as well...

I see no Adobe related threads so far other than the requests for an own subforum. So what are you gonna put in there? :whistling:

Seriously, I believe as soon as you have some serious Adobe threads here you will get your own subforum.

Aren't people waiting for the subforum also?
I can imagine many questions: workflow, after effects, encore, etcetera...

Lebowski -

Love the handle.

There have been a couple massive threads on AE. The Cineform discussion is 99% Adobe because Cineform supports Premiere built in. That thread is also massive, and I think all that 4k on a laptop stuff could be spun off into its own thread.

I see Adobe getting plenty of love, and none of the other subforums are exactly hopping either. Why? Because nobody has footy to play with yet.

I fourth the motion.

Twice, if necessary!

Jarred said that there would be an Adobe forum... As to why it hasn't been created yet, I don't know. He's too busy with other things I guess.

Thanks, Jeff.

i am coming to the conclusion that not having an adobe forum is just stupid politics of red.

would prefer to be proven wrong.

I really don't think that its politics, rather just a lack of resources. Lets keep up a bit of pressure and I am certain that Jarred will eventually get around to getting it added.

it has been -months- now.
there are more post demanding adobe than the whole FCP subforom together.
the most popular thread here is cineform.

i am -besides all HIGH- respect for red for the camera getting a little bit sceptical.

Hey laguun,

I understand your frustration, I too REALLY want an Adobe section on this forum.

I currently have a SCRATCH proposal sitting on my desk at the office and have already submitted it for approval, but I still want and need a native Adobe solution for a number of our needs.

I suggest that a bit less of a heavy handed approach is more likely to get what we want and need. I know a number of the RED people personally and I can tell you that they are working as hard as they can to get the things that they consider most important addressed first. They do intend to broaden the NLE and post support, but they really do have a number of more fundamental issues that need to be addressed first.

Again, I strongly suggest that everyone here use a bit of diplomacy and common sense, keep asking (politely) and keep our needs known, but no there is no reason at all to turn this into an attack on anyones integrity.

Just my thoughts on the subject,

Kevin Halverson

hey khmuse, you are right.
however, its been -months- since everbody demanded the adobe forum and its has been -months- since the cineform thread started and besides finding the the time to add some "whisky"-comments, nothing hekpful was contributed by the manufacturer and the forum mods.

i hate to be the bad guy here, but:
its an impossible solution for an seasoned prducers as i am to speculate.
i have several produtions coming up.
and i have to plan -everything- worst case, means uncompressed.

if you want to put 50.000 or 65.0000 for a scratch, or -nothing- for the scratch as long you buy the diskarray... ok. but i will not loose >10.000 on a cd-rom with a software license.

if red won´t sabotage but support cineform, we all will be working soon on cineform/speedgrade, or, if scratch lowers their price to $$$$ cineform/scratch.

but the silence of the -manufacturer- here is deafening.

Dude, back off a bit and get your dates straight... The individual workflow sub-forums within the "4K Workflow" forum were only created on September 2nd. Jarred only asked everyone on Sept. 1st what forums we all wanted. -- So not "months" ago. He said there would be an Adobe forum (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=76378&postcount=31)... It probably hasn't happened yet, because he just didn't create it for one non-specific reason like he forgot or ran out of time that day. Hasn't come back to do it since there's nothing much to talk about yet... Patience. Case in point: all we have here is a handful of people whining that there's no Adobe forum and it's the same group of people over and over. Yet no one is actually talking about anything specific within Adobe software and there is no content as of yet, which deserves to be placed in such a forum. So if that forum were created today, what would we put in there? Should we move two dozen threads that start with "why is there no adobe forum? we want an adobe forum now!" and then are followed by a dozen "me too!" posts? Seriously, if I had access to create forums, I'd create one just so people would stop bitching about it.. And then I could see what would actually get posted... My guess is not much. Because as of right now, as far as Adobe software pertains to RED, there isn't a whole lot to discuss.

If you want to speculate on Adobe workflows, go ahead and do it right here in the base workflow forum. It's not crowded...
