Are you asking if they will resolve above 4K or are you wondering if the will cover a sensor with a greater area than the current 4K sensor? Ultra Primes will cover Super 35mm format which requires a image diameter of 29.4mm. The lenses vary slightly from focal length to focal length, but all will cover 29.4mm. So if the sensor you are inquiring about has a diagonal diameter larger than 29.4, I would say no. They will not work properly.

Matt any update on the 80-200mm modification?

I'm still not a sponsor here on REDUser. But if you want updates, you know where to find them.

Thanks Matt.I was just wondering if I will be able to use them with the Epic I have booked.Since the R1 will phase out once the Epic comes in and the new Up's will make a big hole in my pocket which have to be filled up with the Epic hire's.In case they will not work then could you suggest an option for the RED and Epic.(dont want to buy the RP's.

The UP's will be excellent on the Epic. The only format that might have issues is the 5K 2:1, 16:9 and 2.40:1 should be well within the image circle as far as we can tell at this point. Of course you can always window the sensor down slightly if you want to eliminate any issues, which I don't think you will need to.

Well, i guess his concern is whether Ultra Primes will cover 5K? If not, then what other lenses would do so?

Cheers ~

we have tested down to the 16mm.. no problem, full coverage, albeit a little soft at the edges.
