I've explored, tested, and pushed the DVX100 Andromeda for the past several months, now I'm kicking it up a notch...

Many more fine optics to come:
SGPro Rev.3
M2
Panasonic Anamorphic Adapter
P+S Mini 35
And any other units I can get my hands on.
Finally, a compression free look at what these adapters can really do.....

I'm confused, what are you doing? Are you testing them? Making your own adapter?

I'm testing them. To the best of my knowledge, none of these adapters have been fully tested with an optimal super low noise floor Andromeda setup. And thats the thing, theres no compression to get in my way of evaluating the adapters true performance.

Chris,
I'm all for what you're doing, but I have to agree with Chuck. This really belongs in DVX discussion areas and not on these RED forums. But whatever, it is the Off-Topic section...
<edited> since I don't agree with what I originally posted.

Sorry Jeff!
Just excited to share the news, so I put it in "Off topic" because its non red related.
As for being an "unsolicited ad", I'd disagree, as I've been openly frank about the systems they are making, especially the Hydra mod with regard to latitude, and dealing with things like work flow, magenta highlights etc... which are also issues Andromeda also has going on with it.

Sorry if I came down a bit hard Chris. I know you're just excited to share... I've had a few complaints though -- a lot of members want to keep this a "RED ONLY" forum.

Alrighty, but to be fair, off topic is where people get, well, off topic :clown2:
Just look around at some of the posts in this forum, some are WAY out there.
I'll just keep it at DVXuser if its that big an issue.
Sorry.

Hi Chris,
I am always interested in the different tests that you do even when I do not post about them. Your curiosity should flourish... I appreciate being able to check out the results of your work.
Cheers,
Andrew

Thank You.
You can follow the progress from now on at DVXuser, and the Reel Stream Forum.
I post on both simply because I see that some people who are interested in my testing sometimes only check one forum (for example "I'm a DVinfo guy", etc..), so in the interest of not isolating anyone interested, I post that way.
I haven't had any complaints till now.
Sorry.

I have always been interested in the Reel Stream guys work, so your current work is very interesting to me.

Wait a min what's the point of having "Off topic" if you can't even go off topic?

ditto. I've posted thoughts on parenting and all kinds of non-related issues. It's the local bar of the forum. Anything goes.
EDIT: Anything within reason. :)

Hehe... Good point.
Sorry, it was just a knee-jerk reaction on my part after receiving a couple PM's from some grumpy members.

You have to admit, the duct tape is a real touch of class. :)

... Thats actually gaff tape and black wrap, a quick and dirty stand in for a spacer that wasn't available at the time. Last time I checked, one Red user had frozen peas strapped to his Red One... Just saying :)

Lol at Red Guy.
I for one enjoy Chris's enthusiastic posts here about Andromeda and other HD systems. I've been too lazy to spend much time at DVXUser these days, so it's nice to have some of this news delivered to our doorstep here. :)

Thank you Tom.
As for being an "ad", technically we all are for someone or something, heck, even ourselves. I'm sure you'll find plenty of people at "certain other sites" accusing everyone here of being a walking talking Red One ad, I myself could be found guilty of that to a certain extent. It's a pretty subjective thing.
"Nuff Said".

Hehe. I guess it is gaffers tape after I look at it again. That's OK, I once mated a RedRock M2 with an HVX200 and ran short on several items. Someone (probably me) forgot a bunch of gear and we were up in the mountains on a sunday afternoon. Civilization was over 20 miles away and between 6 guys riding in a couple trucks we were able to scrounge up a workable solution. So we ended up with some "rods" that were actually 5/8" copper pipe (hey, that's like almost 19mm). Oh, and the "rods" were stabilized by making braces out of 3/4" particle board with two 3/4" holes drilled in each spacer for the the "rods" to pass through. There was also a generous amount of orange hockey tape holding the whole rig together.
