Asia Epic Tour info and REDucation Dec. update.
Hello Everyone - an update on the next leg of my world journey showing off the new EPIC camera - This time in Asia throughout November, and an update on the next REDucation to he held at RED studios Hollywood in early December.
First the EPIC plans - I'm arranging with our friends at Seika, visits to Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Japan.* (and don't worry, if you are not close enough to any of these locations to visit, and want to see the EPIC in person,* there will be other parts of the world I'll be visiting next year, as schedules allow)
I will update this thread again when the presentation venues and dates are locked in. *
On the REDucation front, we are gearing up for our next class from Dec 7th to 11th.* We are planning on teaching the class at RED Studios Hollywood, so we will be right in the heart of the action.* We will schedule time in our big theater to screen 4k footage, and the latest testing for HDRx mode with EPIC, and be on the lot in on of the Stage at RED Studios for the daily classes.*
Teaching the class along with me this time will be Mark Pederson from Offhollywood in NYC, and Steve Freebairn, fresh off the Pirates 4 3D RED production where he was one of the technicians on set working with the RED files.* Mark and Steve are among the most experienced people in the world on the RED workflows for production and post. * They both have worked on 100s of jobs of all types done on the RED, and*will post on this thread some of the interesting work they've been doing so you can see what they've been up to.
If all works out from an engineering timing perspective, We plan to add a section on EPIC for this REDucation, to get a first look at the technology* (as with any of the unreleased products, all is subject to change there, but we will do our best to include Epic into the curriculum.)
Based on Mark and Steve's suggestion, we are planning on adding an extra day to REDucation to focus specifically on 3D.* Registered students of the full 5 day week of REDucation get first dibs on being in this class for the extra 6th day, at a discounted price, before we open it up to others that want to just take the one day seminar.
We are also planning on teaching the Storm workflow from the Foundry, that is getting a lot of industry Buzz, and some of the latest on set dailies workflows for Wireless HD video integration with the RED ONE that are starting to be adopted on a number of high profile RED gigs.
We are also planning on bringing back our "RED Community Day"* where the students will have one on one time with all the sponsors of REDucation at the end of the class day, and then we will open up the Soundstage for a few hours in the evening for anyone that would like to visit and learn the latest from the various companies that support RED workflows and REDucation.
