I own the Cooke, but haven't found anyone with the Duclos or original Tokina 11-16 to see how well these two lenses match up. Has anyone done this test, and could they share their thoughts?

Where are you located? Might be someone local willing to do a comparison. I have one and I am in Sacramento.

I'm in LA and have a 11-16 and 18-100 you could try. I think you would find that resolution and contrast would be matchy, but the Cooke 5.5-1 zooms are warm compared to any other lens. Trivial to tweak in post.

So, how are you liking the 18-100, Seth? ;)

To add to what Matt said, the 18-100 has a softer look to it, mostly in the out of focus regions. The creamy Cooke bokeh isn't going to matter much in comparison since you gain deeper focus with the shorter focal lengths anyway and even with that, the Tokina has a very pleasing look to it as well. If you were to use both together, they would intercut fine once you tweaked color in post to match. The Cooke is more warm, even a bit yellow. The Tokina is mostly neutral.

the cooke zoom is one of the best lenses .
it's no so much about the charts, but how it interprets what it sees.
one of the most pleasant looks I came across.
I don't use it much lately, as I can't afford the weight.

You said all about it. Love it, got its older, very similar brother. But it's bulky and I like to have things compact.

Thanks, guys. That gives me a little more confidence to go ahead and buy the Duclos. I'll be matching it with the AF-100, and because of the crop factor, I can really use the Duclos to give me the edge when needed.

Jeff- honestly, I haven't had the chance to really test drive the Cooke since I got back from A-stan. But I love looking at it, and I'll soon be hooking it up.
